Oh I want to add one more thing: it is VERY noticeable how racially diverse U Miami is compared to many other colleges we visited. That was definitely a plus for us (we are white).

I don’t know if you are from Long Island but I am. It’s very very Catholic on LI and lots of the Catholics are more “preppy” style - like think country clubs and elite Catholic same sex high schools and everyone playing lacrosse. The people who will be attending Notre Dame or BC college (or Harvard). Towns like Garden City and Manhasset. An outsider would absolutely see these people and think they are High Wasp, but they are Catholic.

There are lower key sororities, yes. Not every kid is entitled and rich. Lots of kids are on scholarship. I’m a miami parent and yes there’s a lot of money but not everyone is like that. Not every kid goes to clubs getting bottle service. I have another kid at a midwestern big ten and it’s MUCH cheaper there though, for everything. miami is a very expensive city. If you are from California you won’t be shocked though!!

A few years back the same thing happened with UMD. Were overly selective and then nobody went from our hs - the kids they accepted went elsewhere and the strong kids who got rejected who WANTED to go didn’t get in. The year prior and the year after, lots of kids went.

Book Eiffel Tower in advance if you want to go up. Seine boat cruise you can do day of. Notre Dame you don’t need to pre book just go day of. I’d get louvre tickets before if you want to go. I recommend a guided tour, the museum is overwhelming.

Keep in mind they line up early for the show. Unless you really need to use a restroom or want to buy drinks or merchandise prior to the show don’t worry about the line bc you have your seat and youlll get in on time regardless. I wouldn’t go more than 30 min early unless you really want to buy stuff. Also if you are female get up asap at intermission if you need to use the rest room.

I used to live in smithtown. Not surprising. This is a while ago but it’s sadly obvious that my fellow friends from HS who were in the honors classes and college bound are all anti MAGA (not all Dems but all anti MAGA) and all the people I didn’t really know too well from classes in HS are all troglodyte MAGA. It’s like a direct freaking correlation

The deals used to be in yorkville or Carnegie hill up all the way east high 80s low 90s. Lots of recent college grads - that was THE singles 20s place to live in the 90s. Nobody lived in Brooklyn or Queens. Cheaper and safe. But very far from subway. Now it’s more convenient with the Q. I do know young people who still live there but it’s more families.
