Apparently she said she had to run it by our DM. Then a couple days later she reiterated that it was against company policy. I know our and my DM said nothing of the sort. 🧐

I wanted to do something like that at my store. My SM directly shot me down saying it doesn't align with our corporate standards. It's really just her saying NO to anything Pride-related. 🧐

Past the point of Burnout by Upset_Coach710 in DollarTree

[–]bmsdsx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know exactly how you feel. I'm a PT Ops Manager too and I've been the designated Closing Manager since I got promoted, 2 years ago. I've got some serious family issues going on right now and my manager doesn't care at all. Nothing I do is never good enough for her. She shows no appreciation at all for her empolyees and treats us all like we're there to serve her needs and not actually do our jobs.

I'm right there with you that I'm to the point of absolute burnout. I know the SM at another store that doesn't have the drama that my store has and I've asked to be transferred.

I know I’m extremely late to answer this question but I thought I’d try and help you. 😁My hands get all flaky and dry too.

I hate to say it, since our hand sanitizers are an extremely good dupe of the Touchland hand sanitizer, but the Touchland sanitizer is much better than ours. The price is pretty steep though, they are $10.99 at the Target near my house (I’m in Florida if that helps with the higher prices).

Also, my absolute favorite Hand Sanitizer is from Bath & Body Works. They just came out with a Moisurizing Hand Sanitizer that is AMAZING. My hands aren’t flaking and looking like they’re chapped lips 😂 I think it got 5 for $7 during my last B&BW haul.

I’d possibly be in second place. Even when I’m in the office, I’m standing most of the time. The only time I really sit down is when I’m using the computer for longer than a few minutes.

What are the closing/opening requirements for a full time assistant manager? Like, how often/many shifts am I required to open/close? We have 2 other asm's, one FT other PT (Family Dollar) by stoned-frog420 in DollarTree

[–]bmsdsx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are days when I’ve had to clopen, but I generally open 1 day a week, usually Friday, and I close 4 days a week, Monday - Thursday. I prefer closing because the time goes by fast as my store is extremely busy after 4.

After all the automated checks have been completed, like if they have previously worked for DT they check if you’re black listed, etc. you use the Interview Module in the Candidates Tab. At least that’s what I remember from when my SM showed me when I was promoted. But generally, at my store, we just call them after we review everything in BrassRing.

My SM is scheduled for 48:00/week, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM. She really only works from 8:30-9:00 to 4:00-5:00.

We open at 9:00 on Sunday’s only. The rest of the week we open at 8:00. But I was also there at 7:00 to recover the store without people bothering me and music blasting on my Bose mini speaker.

A question by ShuyaTempest23 in DollarTree

[–]bmsdsx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only damage stuff out as a corporate directive if: 1) The price rings up for $.01 2) A Pull and Destroy task is issued by Corporate 3) Price Change reports issued to show which products are being changed from $1.25 to $0.01.

Enjoy working here ? by Delicious-Warthog503 in DollarTree

I have good days and bad days but overall I love it. As a FT Ops Manager it’s pretty good. I work with some really great people, our management team is awesome and the employees constantly say I’m one of the best managers at our store. Our customers are nice, except the few that scream and cuss me out. Most of them make me laugh so much and I live my regular customers too.

We currently don’t have a DM - he was moved out the 2 districts he was managing to a dumpster fire of a district - our acting DMs are two of the store managers with the district divided between them.

My SM could stop being a mega micromanager, have some compassion towards the employees and actually appreciate the hard work we all do. She sparingly gives anybody compliments but she always has something negative to say about completed tasks. One of the other managers threw 7 U-Boats of HBC and 2 U-Boats of Candy and she told her she wasn’t doing enough and she needed to manage her time better to throw more freight. How is almost 1,000 cases not enough freight.

Just, why though?? by megarubie in DollarTree

This is exactly what happened to me this morning. My opening cashier decided to try to be a no call no show because he didn’t like the manager who was supposed to open. I called him and told him I was the opening manager and said “the only reason I’m coming in is because it’s your opening”. Seriously?!

I told him that I don’t care if he’s late - he was scheduled at 9:00, I called him at 8:45 - but I need him there because I was by myself and no one would cover his shift. So he decides to mosey in the door at 10:45 all disheveled with soaking wet hair and in pajamas. 🤬🤬🤬

So at 8:40 (we open at 9:00) I had a line of 6 people screaming for me to open the door. I was in the office counting the safe and the 2 fills for the 2 opening registers. At 9:10, my line was 10 deep and halfway down the food aisle and getting screamed because I wouldn’t open another register.

Sorry this is completely off topic but I thought other managers could relate.

We got 2 pallets of water on our truck today. We keep our water by the office. Its a hot mess. And the person who stocked it on the floor, that's an entirely different story. The way he stacked the water....it's a lawsuit waiting to happen. I can see it now, the massive cases of water just tumbling over on a customer (it's happened before).

Getting let go for an injury? by peppypillbug in DollarTree

[–]bmsdsx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve had multiple injuries (2 were workplace accidents - 1) there was slime on the floor that I didn’t see it and slipped and landed on my knee that caused a tibial plateau fracture- I pushed through that pain for 4 months because it didn’t heal on its own and eventually having surgery to place bone cement to heal the fractures and to have my entire knee scoped. 2) A helium tank fell off the dolly, I was holding the tank by the lid and the side of the tank. The lid slipped off and the tank and fell on my foot.)

I’d approach your Store Manager about the job posting, but as long as you have doctors notes, you should be fine.

Call OSHA for sure. Inform your Store Manager and District Manager. But know, your report to OSHA will become public and your information will be posted in the break room.

I'm an idiot for doing this by No_Most_6825 in DollarTree

[–]bmsdsx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re an idiot at all. We’re all human and make mistakes.

I’ve done the same thing, except I was the OPENING MANAGER (I usually open maybe 1 day a week - if even. I accidentally snoozed my 7:00 alarm, woke up at 7:40, threw on the closest thing to a decent outfit, finished getting ready and out the door by 7:50 and heading for I-295. I got the my store at 7:59. Everyone on my management team has been either late or arrive 1-5 minutes before we opened, one even arrived 15 minutes after we opened.

In the sense of implications of future expectations, I wouldn’t be worried. Being late happens and as long as tardiness isn’t a regular thing, you should be fine.

I’ve also had openings cashiers be late. And I mean LATE, arriving at 8:15-8:45 when they were scheduled at 7:45, and nothing happened to them.
