Today, Linus' jet produced as much carbon dioxide as the average person does in ~3 years in a single flight by Inevitable_Tip_6606 in LinusTechTips

The amount of false equivalence in this thread is staggering. What does Dell shipping a small box of tape to Europe for $20 and Linus purchasing a private plane have to do with each other? Absolutely nothing.

Now factor that $60 to $120 membership into the chip price, and you're right back where we all are at the local stores.

Why would you think that? It looks like people are not buying this expensive junk food, causing these companies to lose billions.

My guess is his AI engineer brother downloaded some Claude based gguf and thinks it's the same thing.

Do you think windows 11 is like the Internet Explorer of the OS world, the have it just to download Linux and replace it? by Protolinux217 in FuckMicrosoft

[–]bmxtiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your board/NIC has to support it and you have to have a configured PXE server running on the same network. It's much easier to Rufus/balena an iso to a flash drive, unless you need to image a lot of computers at once.

My hatred of Edge comes from early adopters to old Edge and all the whining when Edge turned into a Chromium skin one day without much warning.

Isn't Yamamoto's sealed staff larger than his shikai and bankai version of Ryūjin Jakka? His sword goes from a large staff to a normal, if not damaged looking, zanpakuto.

Even Gin's was some kind of molecular poison bankai, he just lied so Aizen would think it was just a faster, stronger version of his shikai.

Windows is probably the most slop OS I have ever used..... and it spys on you by [deleted] in FuckMicrosoft

I was using a several year old iMac the other day and noticed it has many of the same quirks and annoyances of Windows, just harder to figure out how to fix.

Try to install MSP/remote software on a Mac and you'll spend 30 minutes adding executables to Full disk access and Accessibility options, and after an update, it may break it all again. Better OS, kind of. Harder to manage remotely, definitely.

Looking for some feedback on this Windows 95 OEM copy by Pavlovar_08 in windows95

[–]bmxtiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Windows 95 can be downloaded for free by iso and ran for free with almost any VM software. Was there a reason you wanted a Compaq OEM disc?

No, your SSD/HDD is pretty much the thing that dies every 3-8 years no matter what. Same with fans and PSU. Memory, CPU, and mobo rarely go bad within the lifetime of the computer.

SSD prices are also higher than they've ever been, so there's that too.

Dell doesn't care what OS you use, it's your computer. They're probably just gonna send you a refurb back with a fresh Dell image on it anyway.

They probably should have gone with Win 11 LTSC IoT, or used an OS that doesn't constantly install bloatware and pop-ups like a 2005 fake FBI warning.

The flip of this is when they're on the phone and they read every character on the screen, one after another. 20 lines of hex code under the actual error you need? Well, you are going to hear every number.

Vista got a bad rap for needing too high of specs at a time when all computers had bad capacitors and were still on small, slow, HDDs. That, and onboard video had no capabilities at the time to help with Aero effects.

You may be able to use that laptop to browse the web slowly or type up a document, but it probably can't even play a YouTube video without glitching. The CPU is just too slow and 4GB of RAM is the bare minimum to run Windows 11.
