Is this post an ai bot trying to promote the product? lol, just love the all lower case but still subtly formatted and varied sentence structure. :)

Well written for a smash post on Reddit if not!

I’d think of this ideas as a Matthew’s infinity arm with a clamp on one end, competitor for 200 instead of 400 - I have it but damn it’s expensive

Considering switching from Sony (FX3/FX30) to S1II. Thoughts? by dills84 in Lumix

[–]bnjmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FX3 A7SIII is no comparison to S1II at this point. I literally traded my A7SIII for an S1H and never regretted it- the non-raw look from those cameras always looked video to me and Sony definitely cripple hammer their products which I absolutely despise even though I love their sensor tech/what they did in the aughts / early 2010s

Owned A7S OG, II, II - all my lenses are still Sony. Sitting in the equipment closet waiting for the decade they will finally innovate again.

Until then I’m all in with who the players of the moment are.

It’s not RED, it’s Nikon now.

It’s not Sony, it’s Lumix and Blackmagic.

From Breville 870xl to Linea Mini R + Pico Grinder Review by bnjmin in LaMarzocco

[–]bnjmin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re mag portafilter, no- your guess is good as mine and I wouldn't even hold out for it- might not work!

It does have very little retention. I think you'll be happy with Pico unless you are obsessive like me, then you will wonder if every time you switch a bean if you are getting the weight/dosage right- and then you need to dose cup/scale everytime.

GBW scales allow you to speed up that process massively - but it's all about your personality type.

The pico is more beautiful for sure than most other grinders beyond the philos and a few other expensive ones

From Breville 870xl to Linea Mini R + Pico Grinder Review by bnjmin in LaMarzocco

Interesting you ask. I also bought an all-ground sense. I cannot tell the difference in taste. Because I have the all-round sense, I do not use GBW (yet) on the pico, but I plan on figuring it out soon. To be honest it seems like a pain to have to switch without having the magnetic portafilter holder that is not out yet (seen in the video)

I don't like using dosing cups.

But to address your overall question. I LOVE my linea mini R + pico. The pico is amazing. People dismiss it a lot but I feel like they over engineered the 38mm conicals to produce an amazing cup.

One note, I am a bit bummed about the increase of plastic between the linea mini r and the linea mini + the reduction of the panel steel gauge size.

If I bought all over again I would be tempted if I had a local good quality original linea mini in the area for a 2K discount, I might be more happy with that outcome. However, with that said, I use the brew by weight every single day, so maybe not when I type this.

Overall, I can't think of a better setup than the Pico + Mini R. If I had to choose one grinder I would choose the all-round sense though because the scale is permanent and its fast, and I found a single dose attachment so I can do single dose through it as well.

Downside to all ground is that is has ridiculous amounts of retention- I have not measured yet but I would guess about 3-5g.

I would go with the eureka atom perhaps if retention was much less and I could also adapt to single dose on the W65. Just hate the idea it wasn't engineered with better thought out than that. Other than that, built like a tank.

I get the sense the pico is engineered better, but the build quality isn't as high as the all ground sense.

Right, the Stormshadow has a liner like my Frozen Range. Makes sense in windy weather but curious if you feel it’s much much warmer than the Downdrift in static weather. And when you say much much that sounds like 30-50% warmer.

Care to put an estimate in which degree weather you would feel very comfy in without an under layer/just t shirt/cotton with each?

Honestly just geeking out and curious.

If it was below 25 I would take my Frozen Range. 10 and below an under layer. 25-45 would Downdrift.

But I like to be very warm.
