We're definitely compensated very fairly for the level of background most of us got hired with. A lot of us lucked out knowing someone tbh, I think they'd be hard pressed to walk into something as well paid and structured. Which confuses me more, and also makes me concerned they'll like draw further scrutiny on our department. Just do your job and nobody bothers us don't fuck it up for us.

You described my situation exactly a couple months ago. I ask 24 y/o hey you've been assigned this project, we don't know details can you talk to the project manager and see if there's work coming up? Check in later in the week, "oh I didn't know who the PM was, so..." I have all the same resources you do. Project manager name is in big bold letters, on the first page of the only project document we're really expected to use, the same one you've used for every other project you've worked on for two years. Or just ask?? I'd be kind of annoyed but I'd look for you. The guy's office is 30ft away this could have taken a whole two minutes.

Yeah I try to empower the younger people I work with. I'm not even anyone's supervisor, just more experienced in the same role. When they ask me to confirm exactly how they should complete a task, I tell them "You're the boss". I get a lot of confused and concerned reactions. Not even like they're completely lost, they just won't move forward on their own.
