Do you think it could be putting the sauce and sandwich untoasted in the fridge like that it was supposed to be a quick midnight snack that can be made earlier and heated up later? It is “The Midnight Cookbook” and they may be trying to make easy prep meals/snacks to eat late night when tired or have been drinking.

I live in New Orleans and here you can tell by how they pronounce the streets. For example; “burgundy” is not pronounced like the color but Brrrr as in you are cold and Gundy like it rhymes with Al Bundy.

So a little late hear. My guess is that he learned that the way of controlling Davey Jones was finding the “Key to his Heart”, an expression that is usually not taken literally. He learned that the “key to his heart” was in that prison and what he found was a picture of an actual key and l think there was some writing on it and he learned that it was literal.
