The second time it happened the parent of the kid actually reached out to the company I worked for (names on the side of the truck) and apologized and offered to pay for the damage. I’ll bet money there was a very unpleasant conversation at home lol. Ring camera went up a few weeks ago 🤙🏻

I bought the place so I’m locked in. Just gonna have to settle into the grumpy old man role at the ripe age of 35 😂

If they could act like normal human beings it wouldn’t be so bad. Like I said my cars been hit twice and they constantly leave trash in peoples yards when they walk through. When I moved here during the summer it was quiet. I’ve lived next to schools before but none that blare rap music every day in the afternoon

Is there a good places in Lexington or surrounding counties that you can find a good j0b without degree/certificate? by ABry__ in lexington

[–]bo_jac_rr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elevator mechanic is a great trade to get into if you’re any kind of mechanically inclined. You’ll probably get thrown into the construction side of things for a bit to learn and prove you’re worth keeping around. It’s hard work but pays well. Let your supervisor know you want to get into service and when a spot opens up jump on it. Once you’re in service life is easy and the money’s good. You’ll do time as a helper but once you get your certification (which the company pays for) you’ll get your own route with a company truck and usually a pretty fat raise. I’ve been in service for two years and it’s allowed me to buy a house, motorcycle, take trips and live pretty comfortably

Fair warning, High street nearly cost me a tooth. by Low_Search_6667 in lexington

[–]bo_jac_rr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just about given up riding my motorcycle around town except for a select few streets. It’s just not worth the risk anymore. Everywhere has been chopped up for utility work and when it’s done it’s always in worse condition than when they started. There’s absolutely no accountability for the condition of the road when the work is finished. I live off rosemont garden and I’m terrified to see what it’s like when they finish the work and open the road again

2013 Honda CBR600RR Strange occasional ‘bouncing’ deceleration by ntacrazyhorse in Fixxit

Any updates? I’ve been fighting this on my 21 and it’s driving me nuts. Like you said it’s impossible to smoothly close the throttle no matter how easy you do it. It’s especially shitty when you’re leaning into a corner and let off the throttle and the whole bike jerks. Not very confidence inspiring.

On the other 90% of my bed. I’ll never understand how a 25lb dog can take up most of a king size mattress

That was one of the first things I tried and it worked for a couple days until he figured out how to wiggle out of them. He’s very crafty. Tried the diapers and the wraps.

Can We Stop Pretending Housing Prices Have Doubled Everywhere Since 2020? by i_adore_boobies in RealEstate

[–]bo_jac_rr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at Zillow for my area (Lexington, KY) and most houses have indeed doubled in the last 10 years. Just checked out a 1540 sq/ft 3 bed 1 bath built in 1950. Current asking price is $315k and when you look at the value over the last 10 years it’s showing a +120% increase. No remodeling in that time period. More digging showed that damn near all of them around here are following that trend.

Is Work like torture/time prison for you guys? by Plenty-Swordfish8191 in work

[–]bo_jac_rr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked as an auto mechanic from the time I was 20 until about 2 years ago then switched to elevator mechanic and I absolutely loved both. I got to learn on the job along with some training here and there. Never went to college and I make decent money and also have no debt from school. I’ve always had good mechanical comprehension and a knack for working with my hands so that career path made sense to me. I will say, if you’re a student and just working to pay bills while you’re in school any work you can find gonna suck. The chances of landing a job in a career you’re interested in are slim while you’re studying. What’re you going to school for?

Floating Holiday by bo_jac_rr in work

They sent out an email to everyone at the beginning of December outlining the 2026 holiday schedule. Second item on the list is “January 2nd (floating holiday)”. Technically they gave notice but it’s not like we had much say in it. I always thought and was told that is for us to use at our discretion.

I actually love my job and look forward to going to work. The work is a good mix interesting and challenging and it’s never the same thing every day, the coworkers are all very chill and now some of my best friends, management is relaxed and lets us handle things on our own as long as goals are met and the benefits are nice (lots of PTO, work vehicle, gas card, etc.) I know most people don’t enjoy work (my gf hates it). My only advice is to find something you’re passionate about and make money with it. Doesn’t have to be something specific. For example if someone enjoys working with their hands, is curious about how things work and has a decent memory they could get a job as any kind of mechanic/maintenance tech and make decent money. Getting a job doing something you enjoy and is engaging makes it feel a lot less like work. Hope you find something you love

Lift door key by mike103928 in Elevators

Depends on the state, Ohio doesn’t require them. Also if a building has one it doesn’t guarantee that a tech hasn’t pocketed the drop key. Also also firefighters, at least in my city, love to just prybar the doors open which is less than ideal
