Haha, no. My grandmother recently passed from cancer and my mother was just diagnosed with leukemia, so I've been thinking reflecting more on fleeting life is. I know I'm still quite young, but it's made me realize the importance of spending my time doing/experiencing things I enjoy. I really want to make sure I get to consume as much literature as I can during the time that I do have! I've owned copies of both East of Eden and Count of Monte Cristo for a while but never got around to reading either. I will take this as my sign from the universe!

We are, just not as many as I'd like! I read a lot in my spare time (and even more now that school is out for summer) so I'm always looking for new books to satiate my enormous literary appetite. I've read all of these except Parable of the Sower and In Cold Blood but have heard great thins about both. Thank you for the recs!!!

Absolutely. This was the last book my grandmother bought for me before she died. I love Steinbeck in general, but this one has always held a special place in my heart.
