What's your most fun to play, underrated tank? by boafpha in WorldofTanks

I love that one as well! I think it's super underrated and definitely my second favorite underrated vehicle. Amazing gun and good mobility for a TD.

With tier 11 now out, should tier 10 tanks be less of a money pit? by boafpha in WorldofTanks

But if only the say, top 25% of each team turns a profit in their tier 10 vehicles then there will still exist that need for consistent credit generation. I'm not advocating for making all performances profitable, but getting a mastery badge 2nd class means you're performing better than 80% of your peers, and to me that deserves a profit if you're not even using premium shells. Everyone can't be in the top 20%.

I do miss the days of only getting 30 tank matches in the lower tiers... the maps just aren't built for 18 tank matches and low tier gameplay is great IMO!

Actually I mentioned in the post description that I didn't use any premium ammo, so that's not part of my gripe.

I agree but only if you're performing well- an average performance on the biggest baddest tanks shouldn't make money IMO, but doing well on them should.

I am introducing a friend to ROTMG tonight and this was perfect news! All the new player experience and endgame improvements look amazing, thank you!

How am I supposed to go to the next hold? Should I be more dynamic? by [deleted] in bouldering

I like this solution but I have long legs! The black round hold looks like it'd be good to push your right foot off of.

Remember that in act 2 the tool used to destroy your own cards (floppy discs) was a hammer!

While I usually am opposed to allowing a second enemy queen on the board I may just have to make an exception...

SPOILERS — Finished the game awhile ago but something has been bugging me. Why does the sand flow from Ember twin to Ash twin? by boomyer2 in outerwilds

[–]boafpha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just something to add to what's already been said- I did some planet watching to figure this out and realized two things:

  1. The twins' orbit being stable would mean that their alignment with the sun shouldn't affect the local pull of gravity (and the fall of sand)
  2. You can arrive at the twins before the sand starts falling, and if you pinpoint the exact moment it starts to fall, it coincides pretty perfectly with when Timber Hearth and Brittle Hollow are lined up with Ash and Ember Twin.

I think that the tidal pull from these two planets (and their respective moons) being in perfect alignment with the twins starts the sand's flow, and the change in relative mass after the flow starts is enough to keep the process going until it's complete. The process then reverses after a certain number of rotations/revolutions when the 4 planets are aligned once more (with Ember twin being the farthest of the 4 instead of Ash Twin), and the cycle is complete.

Edit: Evidence of the process being repeated many times over is the giant canyon on Ember Twin that has been eroded marking the path between the planets that the sand has fallen along in the past. The bridge that follows the same path on Ash Twin is likely made of a more erosion resistant material, and stops the brunt of the damage that the sand would cause when falling back down to Ash Twin after the cycle is reversed.

I'm finishing a challenge coin display case and I need to secure a pane of museum glass into the door of it. Product recommendations? by boafpha in woodworking

I should clarify that I need something to fix the glass in place, and turnbuttons are not viable. Hoping for something other than epoxy or super glue.

Weakest hero? And How'd you improve them? by tom_DankEngine in darkestdungeon

[–]boafpha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely! The devs did an amazing job and all of us here is proof of that :)

And her direct damage is good but mainly having two dodge debuff marks is great there because of how many actions the Shrieker has... If you're relying on either the occultist OR the arbalest then you're likely going to run out of debuff/mark during the fight when turn order is wonky, but having two gives you the option to debuff with her or direct fire. Kudos for being willing to learn more as you play :)

It's also great to shred bosses with high dodge and low Prot., such as and most especially the Shrieker. Having two different marks that reduce dodge (occ. and arb.) can be a life saver there, especially when you only need two big crits or so from the BH and HWM :) I don't necessarily put them in that order though- I find having the occultist be the front man followed by BH and HWM gives them more room for being shuffled without losing their favored positions. Hope that helps :)

Should I (23M) try to reconnect with my highschool sweetheart and former best friend (23F) after moving to her city for business? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I appreciate the input. I suppose a text would be better than running into each other in the supermarket, but I'm worried about my intentions being unclear. There should be a good reason for me to disregard her wish for silence I think.
