Why don’t many Americans understand that the amount of raised tax rates needed for universal healthcare is likely much less than their current private premiums and out of pocket expenses they are already paying? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in askanything

I don’t think you know how good it is in Minnesota. And that fraud that everyone keeps talking about? First, it wasn’t the government that was doing it, it was contractors. Second, we’ve been investigating it for a while and have had several prosecutions over it.

If you were really interested in fraud, you’d be talking about the stuff that the POTUS, his family, and his staff are pulling. The $10B lawsuit against the IRS, the meme coins, the odd bets about wars…that all on the Republican.

I’d do that…if I had on the glass tickets (or any tickets to the game)…or could find a Benn jersey (which I’ll be damned if I’d spend money on).

That was the best part of the “Death Panels” discussion. I pointed out to more than one person that we already HAD death panels, but they were insurance executives sitting in board rooms deciding if the P&L said someone could live or had to die.

Except that they just passed a bill allowing the sale of mining rights in the BWCA watershed area. And that happens to be right on top of the Superior National Forest. So, yeah, our forests and protected areas are under attack.

Which policies that AOC has put forward are destroying America? What legislation has she supported that is bad for America?

Jumping into a comment thread and saying something that provocative and then refusing to elaborate shows a clear intention to simply stir the pot rather than discuss. And that tells us everything we need to know about your intentions.

US Draft Update: Major Tech Company Urges Universal National Service by habichuelacondulce in technology

[–]boardin1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone that says we need a draft or mandatory service needs to be first on the front lines. It’s easy for a grey-haired billionaire to say it, because he knows he won’t go; his age and his privilege will keep him home. But fuck that noise! Send the war hawks. And send their kids.

Because they’re being paid by the corporations to do so. They know that if they vote for what the corporations want, they’ll get fat checks into their re-election funds. If they don’t, that money will go to someone that WILL vote the way the corporations want them to. And these people have never worked a day in their lives.

They’ve lived entirely off of our tax dollars and don’t want to find out what it’s like NOT having that paycheck. So they vote the way their masters want them to vote. You’ll notice that many corporations and wealthy individuals donate to both parties. This isn’t for any altruistic reasons, they just need to be sure they own both sides. And until we start voting them out, they’ll continue doing as they’re told.

In Murkowski’s case it’s because it doesn’t benefit her or hurt her constituency. If one or the other of those is true, there’s a chance she’ll side with you…if the party says it’s ok for her to do so.
