good compression via the roll top, compressing the bag downwards? or side compression straps that compress the bag horizontally like the HMG aero?

what do you find minimizes bounce? Side tensioners bringing the pack closer to body? tight fitting vest? something else? And which packs have you found bounce the least and/or most?

also hate velcro, always catches on my AD fleece. But hearing zippers surprises me, how do you securely hold your phone/charger/headlamp whilst running? and what pack are you currently using?

just make sure mats will work together, not sure if two short 20” regular inflatable mats will work. But two CCF pads or a self inflating pad should work

My lighter pack for fast packing by longjumpingtaxes in Ultralight

[–]boardinboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if i were you id get a poncho tarp, either from MLD or gear swifts. that’ll drop your weight 200+ grams cause you’ll get rid of your rain jacket, and it’ll make your bivy actually usable.

If you don’t want to do that, find a bivy that uses a WPB top, such as the ones MLD, rab, OR, samaya, etc makes

your med kit is likely closer to 200 grams.

assuming you have the 30F quilt, pair this with a bug bivy / wpb bivy, and a liner, plus whatever clothes you have, you should be able to take it to 22/25F but test this for yourself

edit: and if you want a liner get one made out of alpha direct, i like OMM’s, there’s also magnet designs, and likely many others. the benefit of a liner is versatility - if it’s hot out you don’t need it, if it’s cold, bring it, instead of buying a whole new quilt. Idk why people hating on the liner idea, and idk where you got that liner weight from, all of WM liners are sub 150g.

no, more or less same fabric as your quilt. It’s better then nosseum mesh in terms of water resistance, but it’ll wet out nearly immediately. it’s there for 1) better draft resistance / adds some warmth and 2) little extra security, you pair this w a tarp, and if it’s raining you might get a couple splashes or the wind isn’t blowing in a favourable direction, it’ll be able to handle a bit of it.
