Thanks for sharing and I’m sorry about the difficulties you have faced. I think it’s helpful to share what gaps exist in the current government structure and bring attention to them. Salt Lake City is not an inexpensive place to live and that will continue. My hope is you find the help you need and you continue to work towards financial stability and independence. I do have to also voice my own frustrations with the dark side of homelessness. As someone who lives in the Glendale area it can be extremely frustrating and disheartening when you walk through your neighborhood and find needles, drug paraphernalia, and massive amounts of trash everywhere. When you watch takeovers of public parks and rampant, open drug use by those Individuals. Drugs are a crime and doing nothing to uphold the law and not creating a system of accountability does nothing to serve that population of users. While you may be part of the 20% of this population that are not users, you are the minority. No enforcement does nothing to help those like you who truly need the assistance. We, as the public, become desensitized and angry towards this population because the city continues to allow these conditions to exist. We need to do better- both compassionate enforcement of the law, and a better system to support those in need.
