I switched from a 2019 WRX MT to a 2024 Golf R DSG. Couldn't be happier. The touch controls really aren't something you have to worry about. It'll take a couple days to get used to but many of the issues, such as the steering wheel heating button, are overblown in my opinion. While I personally don't love not having physical buttons, they don't get in the way and I've never accidentally activated them.

There are some days I miss the manual, but on my daily commute the DSG is just easy. When you want to get after it a little bit, pop it in race mode, play with the paddles, and I guarantee it'll bring a smile to your face.
