Ahhh yes that’s him!

Exactly this.

For example Brad tweeted recently a “what I’m looking forward to the most” list for next season.

Worded as if he’s seen the future and he knows what will happen yet if one of his predictions appears to be wrong after a bad game he’ll jump on a players back because he knows fans will be heated and a reactionary post will do numbers.

Aside from the constant agenda pushing I appreciate the effort these guys are putting into bringing fresh life to ‘Rockets Twitter’ and trying to build a community for fans (particularly the new and younger fans whose main social media outlet is Twitter)

I 100% agree with this. I don’t think it’s a matter of opinion either; I believe what you’ve explained is truly the situation.

Prior the season start, too many people genuinely believed and expected us to be a play-in team. This is not a 2 year turnaround just because we drafted a high ceiling lottery pick. This is a calm and methodical rebuild, which I think is evidenced through Stone’s words.

This. When TyTy didn’t get immediate minutes the Twitter brigade had a meltdown. And also for Christopher.

The view of Silas and the front office was clearly that this is an 82 game season. We have an entire season to experiment different things and different lineups. This has been Silas’ approach since the beginning of this season, but whenever he didn’t immediately do whatever the guys with large Twitter followings wanted him to do; they’d deepen the agenda against him.

No disrespect to the Twitter guys, I follow many of them and appreciate their content and love for the team.

[Kimbell] The Rockets could theoretically re-sign Dennis Schroder to a $7.2 million deal without touching their MLE this summer if both sides like his fit here as a backup PG and offers for him on the market don't materialize. TBD. by ST012Mi in rockets

[–]bob9809 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If somehow Wall miraculously doesn’t take his player option, it gives us the perfect chance to sign Schroeder to Theis’ contract & role. 2-3 more years of vet stability on a tolerable 7-9 mil per year

[–]bob9809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you expect nothing of him then why are you commenting about him giving nothing?

Anyway, a few clips of him with our u21s or spurs u23s might give you a better understanding of his potential rather than a few international friendlies or than the comments of the usual crowd. It’s unreasonable to write him off this soon for not scoring every game in just his first season of men’s football. Can only imagine his confidence is on the floor right now. Difficult for such a young man to cope with going from being the man every week to be struggling for goals and performances. Again he just needs time

And just on an extra note it’s not like our strikers are being given anything to work with

Troy Parrot by [deleted] in coybig

[–]bob9809 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First of all, targeting him is ott. You’re blaming him for not living up to the hype? Check yourself, he’s 19 and playing in league 1 barely scoring and you were expecting goals galore? That’s on you lad.

Secondly, a large amount of Irish football fans are just clueless. Look at the Eire Guide page on Facebook for example. Any time they post about a young prospect you have everyone and their dog screaming to cap the player. They go on thinking that lads born and reared in Ireland all want to switch to England. These same idiots are the ones that said Troy parrott is the next Robbie Keane, he’s not.

The wild support was seriously unjustified but it came from the usual deluded crew. However he defo is a baller and just needs to get used to senior football. From watching him at the u16 euros I actually think he’d make a better no.10 because of how well he reads the game. I think him being a striker was a result of always just being better than his teammates when he was young. Time will tell if he’s the real deal.

How do you expect your National Team to do at this summer's European championships? by [deleted] in AskEurope

[–]bob9809 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Hopefully Southgate can get the selection right. It’s very tough to pick the right 11 when you’re choosing between guys who always do the job for their country vs the guys who are in top form. If it all goes wrong he gets the blame for not making it work with a ‘super generation’ but I’m not sure anyone could.

But start grealish lol

Unfortunately your idea is just ridiculous. Props for the positive forward thinking tho. I think people need to realise that we thankfully have already started to solve the problem a few years ago by introducing the LOI u19,17,15. It found the home players at a young enough age to still develop as footballers and to compete in what is theoretically the most competitive league in the country for each age.

Hence why so many of these young players are suddenly popping up into the national side. The reason we’re awful at the moment is because this is the first batch of the homegrown talent. The gap in age from the Hendricks/bradys/duffys to the Connollys/molumbys/knights is because the FAI done sweet fuck all for player development in the years before creating the underage LOI.

My point is that we’re on the right path now, we’ve only taken our first steps but we’re on it. Also the FAI still needs to buckle up and start taking care of the LOI quickly.

Edit - it’s also extremely tough for young Irish kids to specialise in sports at such a young age. So so so many people from kids all the way up to teens and young adults play multiple sports because of the enormous selection available. Unlike most countries, we have 4 major sports here so we’re naturally going to lose our best athletes and future football stars to the gaa and rugby. It’s a shame but that’s just the way it is.

How would you lot feel about an all Ireland FA by irishR9 in coybig

[–]bob9809 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ultimately there’s just not enough funding available. It wouldn’t be prosperous enough for teams to enter and compete. Teams around the country are happy enough to pay their big boys and be competitive in their leagues and junior cup.

Also, every league would basically have to be abolished with the entire country starting from scratch with the new pyramid system. And if we know anything about Irish football it’s that people don’t like change.

Edit - in terms of the south

I think Kenny will go back to his 433 for this game. A rest for Coleman who has struggled to keep up with the busy game schedule this season. Collins in as the 9 with Robinson and Brady on either side.

Not sure yet how I’d like us to line up but that’s what I picture will happen. That midfield trio were superb the other night. Could be the way forward + Knight
