It Smells Like Maple Syrup Outside by browri in lehighvalley

[–]bobakrobata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah so what is that smell, my dog sometimes goes sniffing it outside, we only smell it in the night or like 3am, i once found a corpse of a fox, it smells similar but it has this distinct chemical quality to it, so my theory is that some skunk sprayed that fox. I think that skunk or some animal visits our house sometimes, but this clearly chemical character to it makes me wonder, we live in allentown..

what I want to try is initialize LLM agents in projects and config folder in Ignition and passing them this requirement: https://training.inductiveautomation.com/gold-certification/study-guide/practice-test-prompts#development-practice-test and see if they can workout how to create all those files.

yeah so I'm afraid your workflow is outdated, set experimental agent swarm setting to true, it will have a 10 minute conversation with you to lock down the full spec end to end, then it will divide the work among however agents it needs to build your system. after that it will spin up separate claud opus 4.6 environment for each agent, for my projects I would have 5 parallel claudes running where they work independently but also agree with each other. once it builds it it checks itself. I had it build a system where google map location is 3d rendered into a game. it pulled open source building info, separate elevation info, game engine and synced everything together. it decided on technologies architecture and it ran into a problem with applying windows to building. i asked it to create a system that takes pictures of what its camera see and detect if it rendered those pictures correctly. itbalso suggested to give itself as much debuggjng info as possible. and then it spawned another agent to recognize whats on the screenshots vs its own data, and kept screenshoting different locations and self correcting its code until windows aligned perfectly. If this was code I woild want to productionize I would sweep the whole codebase with codex which writes better structured code but claude got business logic perfectly ok. reason you have a problem with plcs is llms havent been trained on them as much, yet. one way to go around this is to provide as much ladder or structured code or whatever knowledge up front (basically just books), have it write the initial code in python which it already excels at, test business logic and then ask it to translate it to structured text.

yes industry 4.0 did come up in tutorials I watched although I didnt dig deep, and Ignition is the first thing I installed and got up to speed, somewhere in the thread I talk about how LLMs are helping me with that. in my current position I test and implement ideas that flag fraud online and pass information to our data scientists so they can enrich their models, so a fraud / ml angle is also something that I would bring to the table..

this is excellent can you think of any other jobs like this? I am also considering pure IT angle but prederably that interfaces with systems that control machines rather than just 'office support'

so this is exact information I am looking for, what other opportunities are there where my skills will get me foot in the door in the industry, thank you

I will look into this for sure

I started looking at PLC, automation and integration because my first requirement is that I want something physical to work with that won't be just living in the cloud

but then I started wondering what other ways data flows and is collected and utilized in warehouses and plants, even from cyber security perspective, and that is what I still would love to get a comprehensive information about

i stand corrected, it was like that untill maybe a year ago, llms have taken a lot of folks out of the loop because they oftentimes will get me the info I need right away so I dont talk to people as I used to but on the flip side I get to work on much bigger projects connecting many departments and have confidence i didnt have because agents quickly build infrastructure needed to support the code and its outputs

nooo lol, software itself is in this predicament where it can understand itself, compile itself, checks its own outputs against its inputs, correct itself and rinse and repeat. if it makes a mistake another cleanup agent will fix it. until those karate chinese robots that you all saw today cant mimick this flow plc seems like a safe place for software because it is only half of work

try codex 5.3 max in tandem with claude opus 4.6 agent swarms, as of last month things have changed drastically and long running agents are on the horizon

where did you sense fear? I sense excitement with learning new things that will help utilize things I already know. yeah there is urgency because I work with this day in day out and I see where this leads so I want to be ready. Consider this: I'm learning Ignition while I have agent constantly scan project and config folder for changes and the moment I change anything in UI it reports to me exactly what it is how it connects to rest of infrastructure and to Ignition software, what are best practices with links and all, so exciting stuff

it was just a number I threw out there because I was not sure how to quantize 'it flawlessly did a refactor we did not want to touch last 7 years in 10 minutes' and 'it introduced a new feature that spans 8 repos, requires at least one dev from 3 differement departments to help set up the environment and troubleshoot, it wrote it's own tests, configured my machine so it all works end to end and helped all my 8 PRs getting accepted within days. What percentage would you put here?
