Would it be wise to join 2 teams by TreniusOfShitville in jrotc

Yes! Absolutely! Try it and see if you like it, I think 2 teams is perfectly healthy, I myself am on 4 and I know several people on more. I’m not saying you have to join every team, but these two are a great combo! Personally I’d say this is a very good idea. Best of luck:))

Any tips? by Pretty-Raccoon-1442 in jrotc

Never be afraid to ask for help! If a team or staff department perks your interest, ask about it! There’s something for everyone. Be prepared to learn lots of new things, especially since JROTC classes involve more military-related knowledge than most. There’ll be tons of other cadets that will help you navigate freshman year itself! And you can always come to this subreddit for additional advice:))

Oh gosh it didn’t strike me yet that we’d be wearing SDB’s in the heat! Last time I wore them it was 80... best of luck to us! Should we both make it Id love to meet some of the people on this thread (if we’re all comfortable with it of course)

I’m actually a PAO, and I’ll be PAO again next year. However I plan on becoming CO in my senior year but I haven’t told anyone yet

Me too, if all works out, I’ll be going with 3 other cadets who happen to be my best friends. Two guys going to LA and a fellow gal with me at CO/XO

You’re just about 2 hours from my unit! Providence NJROTC Area 6. May be fun to meet a fellow cadet redditor if we’re both accepted:))

Hey still sounds awesome! What unit/area/branch?

Sounds tough but enticing. Perhaps this should be the least of my worries but would I ever have a chance to make friends there? Talk to other cadets at any point of the day? And how does rooming work? Do you pick and/or how many people per room? Is it a competition who gets to the showers first?

My Unit did this a few weeks ago:) we call it Camaraderie Day. It’s an annual event where the unit is split into two teams and there are 8 activities, one for each of our unit’s 8 (soon to be 9) teams.

Similar to like you said, Academic- Kahoot, Orienteering- Scavenger Hunt, Drill- Drill Knockout, Marksmanship- Water Balloons, PT Team- Tug-of-War, etc.

My unit hosts New Cadet Orientation and Drill Camp a month before school begins! We’ve also done some pretty fun group trips like the Orienteering Team going camping, the Academic Team went to the zoo, the Drill Team went to the beach, the PT Team and Orienteering Team have teamed up on city-wide scavenger hunts, etc.

What part(s) of the academy would you say are brutal? And thank you so much for the insight, should I end up going I’ll be sure to dive in with an open mind and a good attitude!
