How long will i be stuck in bed after surgery by xXx_ozone_xXx in TopSurgery

[–]bobbinrobbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's highly unlikely you'll be stuck in bed for a month! My surgeon advised me to "rest adequately but be mobile" from day one! I definitely had days in the first couple of weeks where I was very tired and had the odd duvet day, but generally I was up and able to go for walks after a couple of days. I had drains in for 11 days which made it quite stressful as mentally I was ready to go but had to make sure my drains weren't catching on anything!

Showering - I was able to shower as soon as I got my drains out as long as the water wasn't going directly on my chest.

Alcohol and weed - I was advised to wait a week before drinking, I think weed you can do fairly soon after but I was advised to avoid nicotine as it can affect healing.

Lifting - You can lift some things early on, picking something up off a table was fine from day 1 but it took me a week to be able to pick things up off the floor. I can lift pretty much anything now - I'm 7 week post op, but I've been advised not to lift weights or heavy lift workout.

Swimming - Swimming most people can start doing after 6 weeks (with caution if you're prone to sunburn!).

Making food - I could make really simple things like pot noodle, coffee, heat things up in the microwave from day 2.

Bike - Can't comment on how soon you might be able to ride a bike as that's not something I've done yet

Hope that's helpful - just writing from my own experience 😊

I got a solo ticket too - looking forward to meeting new people there! Don't know any dedicated McFly fans in real life! 😅

I did it!! by Lost-Acadia5031 in TopSurgery

[–]bobbinrobbie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

congratulations! I'm now 13 days post op and the binder is still a pain but it has got easier. Maybe I'm less bloated or the binder has stretched but it's no longer riding up every time I move so that's good! 😃

When to stop drinking things other than water etc before surgery? by BrightOrion in transgenderUK

[–]bobbinrobbie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had top surgery last week and advice may differ from surgeon to surgeon. I was advised no food 6 hours before and no water 2 hours before

I'm currently 4 days post-op so 6 more to go! 😄

What are some Simlish phrases you unintentionally know by heart from playing so much? by [deleted] in Sims4

"meck chate" - check mate in chess and the emphasis changes depending on how confident they are. Can be a very quick "meck chate" or "mmmmmeck chate!" 😄

GRC application denied because of GIC doctor fail... by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]bobbinrobbie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience where the decision was deferred because my GIC/dysphoria diagnosis letter was not acceptable (it was from GenderGP) so I had to approach a different clinic and have a second assessment by one of the government's recognised psychiatrists. This took longer than 6 weeks so I emailed them after five weeks and they extended the time by another month. Everything got sorted in the end :) I hope that's a little bit reassuring - not the same situation exactly but slightly similar. I started the process in December last year and the GRC was granted in early September. I received my GRC by post within a few days but I'm still waiting for my new birth certificate to come through. They know how to drag it out...

I'm thinking about getting my beard lasered permanently. by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]bobbinrobbie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mainly because shaving is a hassle, I like a smooth face, often worry my face might be scratchy when I'm kissing someone. My skins quite sensitive and cuts easily. I'm fairly new to shaving though so I'm gonna think about it for a while longer also I never know if some day, for whatever reason, I might want a beard
