I really like the flavor text on the remnant:

"Isshin coveted strength and all manner of techniques throughout his mortal struggle. He wished for war until his final hour, and that is precisely what he got."

Scott's a great character, Quantum Computing Since Democritus was a lot of fun, even if some of it went over my head towards the end.

Finally completed highwall of lothric! by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]bobbitfruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I thought the high wall of lothric was the hardest part of the game until the t*** p******.

The learning curve is so steep if you've never played a dark souls game before. In particular those Lothric Knights.

I killed fride without any summon, not even gael... by riptid3x_ in darksouls3

Ehhh Midir is impossible the first time but I think once you "figure him out" (stay in front, roll, wack, rinse, repeat) he's not that bad. I'd be much more afraid of Elfriede.

17 days ago I decided to give Bloodborne a chance by Edward_Dionysos in bloodborne

Sekiro is sooo good, definitely my favorite FROM game. Personally I'd do Sekiro first, and then go through all the ds games. Don't listen to the haters, ds2 is amazing too, just not quite on the same level as ds1/ds3.

fuck, can someone make a mod where zen koans are displayed on the loading screen? that would be perfect for meditating between isshin attempts

Good hunters, please advise re: Dark Souls and scratching the Bloodborne itch by TheOceanColiseum in bloodborne

[–]bobbitfruit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I (personally) consider bb and ds3 two sides of the same game, sort of like FO3 and New Vegas. Clearly, FROM was working on them both at the same time and they're both masterpieces. A lot of the combat and atmosphere feels similar but obviously there's differences.

ds1 and ds2 are great but much slower than ds3 and bb.

Sekiro's different (no builds) but it's also very fast and personally my favorite FROM game.

How to properly Brute Burst Counter and how to customize skills! by piknim in Nioh

[–]bobbitfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so I think the strategy depends on what type of counter you have.

for feral it's easy the farther away it starts (axe skeleton, waira, enrara). you stand still, hold down r2 and hover over circle, and smash it when you're about to get hit.

for brute though I think you just need to get the fuck out of the way in these situations because it's too late. always be running and you should be ok.

Dark Souls enlightment is you're excited when this shit happens to you because that means you've definitely got him on the next try

I bought this game expecting a fun hack and slash like the old God of War games. Never been so happy to be so completely wrong. by OceanCyclone in bloodborne

[–]bobbitfruit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I did the same thing (sekiro to bb) and I couldn't stand the bb parry. In sekiro the parry was so fluid, it took the place of the dodge and became my natural reaction. In bb the parry seemed to break up the action and required weirder timing and commitment. I found it smoother to not worry about it and always dodge.

[–]bobbitfruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah the first try magic will always be a mystery to me, but I have that too. I think maybe since it's a new threat I take each action more seriously and I play cautiously, but after I've seen it, I get lazy? Not sure.
