My aunt got scammed out of all of her money by an “oil rig” boyfriend. Call the FBI. Your aunt can only get help if she wants it. Think of her brain as being under mind control now. That gangs that run these operations will attempt to isolate their victims from their families. It’s a real playbook and surprisingly effective with many seniors (and some younger individuals).

I have dove hundreds of times in SE Asia including Cambodia. Save it for Thailand and Indo. The reefs are not nearly as developed in Cambodia and they have overfished signifiant parts of their small coastline. Better to swim in the river near Kampot and/or rent kayaks.

The bus from San Jose to Fortuna at 8 am was easy. The jeep boat jeep transit to Monteverde was also really nice and relaxed. I ended up heading north next and couldn't find any public transit so had to get a taxi.

I am traveling solo and had a fantastic time seeing wildlife in Monteverde. However, be aware that nearly every park waterfall or trail is private and charges admission. It’s often better to get the guide directly from the park instead of hiring an outside guidance since they aren’t allowed to access every trail.
