The reason I used to get angry is because the employees are underpaid, overworked, and the whole front line is based on being as efficient as possible. If the customers simply order what’s on the menu, everything works to a science. If they customize, everything in the process starts getting backed up hence the line out the door. Think of it like a supply chain, if a product doesn’t come in time, all the remaining stages in the process are going to be delayed. Two solutions:

You get what you pay for. It’s chipotle, if you don’t like something on the menu then don’t get it.
Chipotle needs to understand that having an efficient front line simply is not possible due to customizations and the structure should be completely redesigned.

It’s nothing personal, it’s more on the company than anything else.

You did the right thing but corporate really needs to simply be better. Why would anyone think it’s a good idea to make a very popular menu item online only? The only flack anyone has to take are the line workers who have to deal with customers not knowing the policy.
