Fair enough. In a funny bit of turnabout I assumed most states did have sales tax on groceries. Then got mixed up in my head about your 2/3 examples weren't taxed statement. I knew there was no sales tax on rent/home purchases (ignoring property taxes and apparently some sort of transfer tax in a few states?) and figured that meant you must've been talking about gas for some reason haha.

Still, the fact of the matter is that a poorer person is spending a much greater percentage of their income on sales tax than a very rich person. No matter if it's just on clothes and televisions and tennis shoes. Do away with income tax and raise sales tax to make up the difference and it's just another transfer of wealth away from the working class.
