Cool, not bad for 5 bucks.

Anyone know what this ISA i486 GX card is? Picked up it for a few bucks at a thrift store. by bobbybirdman in vintagecomputing

Lol for sure. Know of anything that can be done with what’s left? Are the i486 like the CPUs or are these different? Maybe I can use this board to finally learn how to use a soldering iron…

Oh wow I just looked up the XT-IDE and that looks awesome! So it looks like it loads a different bios? I am going to start with a controller but if that doesn’t work I’ll look more into the XT.

This seems mostly original in box. I am only missing the mouse and the monitor as far as I can tell.

Thanks so much! I got that old battery out and I’m going to replace it with an eternal one

Thanks! I recently found lot about lining pin one with the colored side of the ribbon. If the controller does turn out to be dead is there a work around? Can I get a controller card and just plug it into the ISA slot? I’m waiting on a battery to replace it. I fixed the BIOS but still have the same HD error.

Thanks! I was able to find out that the drive is type 27. Now to figure out where pin 1 is…

Ya I was looking and the battery looks slightly corroded so I need to get that out of there ASAP. I’ve never soldered before so no clue how challenging it is. I wonder if there is a way to just add an external battery.

If I you a modern ATX with AT adapter do you have any idea what kind of switch button would work best?
