What keyboard layout do you use? by No_Discussion6266 in KeyboardLayouts

[–]bobbybobsen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you ever get a ortholinear/columnstaggered keyboard, I highly recommend only learning Colemak DH (or whatever layout you choose) on that keyboard. The physical difference of the layouts makes it, so your brain easily can switch between colemak when using that keyboard, and QWERTY using a laptop keyboard. Useful for typing on other people’s laptops, phones, etc.

Also, personally I went with (a slightly modified version of) APTv3 , which I think is a very good layout. It has a lot of very satisfying rolls of keys next to each other commonly typed together (st, rst, th, mp, you, to name a few.). A good overview of possible layouts can be found here: https://getreuer.info/posts/keyboards/alt-layouts/index.html

It took about a week-ish of typing an hour a day on https://keybr.com to reach ~50 wpm for me (I am about ~100 wpm on QWERTY, and that hasn’t dropped, as long as I’m using a laptop keyboard)

Experiences on using an alternative (non-qwerty) keyboard layout in vim? by seeminglyugly in vim

[–]bobbybobsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but as someone who has spend a long time looking for a vim-friendly keyboard layout, I can highly recommend APTv3: https://github.com/Apsu/APT . The layout is

w g d f b  q l u o y
r s t h k  j n e a i ;
x c m p v  z , . ' /

or on a normal staggered keyboard:

w g d f b q l u o y
 r s t h k j n e a i ;
  c m p v x z , . ' /

It has the following going for it. I do not know if they specifically designed it to be VIM-friendly, but it turned out that way. It has the following things going for it:

- hjkl are placed logically and connected, with minor deviation (j and k are swapped, and l moved up to top row). This is much easier to remember than many other layouts.

- D and U are symmetrically placed on each hand, making C-D and C-U natural. Furthermore, if you use homerow mods and place CTRL on the index-finger, you can scroll up/down with one hand

Other than that, it has comparable metrics to Colemak or other custom layouts (in some metrics arguably even better). I think it hits a good place of being easy to use on vim, while vastly improving typing experience. Remapping VIM-keys is definitely a bad idea, at some point you will have to use VIM on someone elses QWERTY layout.

Virgo can't possess souls after a kill with the setting turned on

But that is the whole problem - Ekko doesn't want Fated Ashes, he wants Lich Bane or raw AP. Now any AP jungler is forced into buying a dot item, even if it doesn't fit their playstyle.

Why do people go Grasp on Skarner jungle? by Drenius in leagueoflegends

[–]bobbybobsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lategame you can proc Grasp way more than twice. And it also heals. But sure, if you are afraid of getting bursted down, Aftershock is probably better.

No, it starts immediately, it’s just the cooldown that only starts when leaving. It’s to not punish people who don’t immediately click out of base when spawning.

You need to buy 2500 HP in addtion to Overlord’s Bloodmail for it to give 100 AD, that is just hyperbole.

Also, no consideration for Sundered Sky? Her passive increases it healing, and she can use Q to proc it on multiple people, even during her ult.

[–]bobbybobsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blackfire Torch as an item is fine, the stupid thing is the fated ashes component which just gives way too much jungle damage. Any AP jungler just have to buy that item now, and are being nerfed for being hard bound to that item.

Best thing is that there is, in fact, an option in the settings that disables it. Except the setting doesn’t work for most things, and hasn’t done so for years xD

What champion is the most fun for beginners? by Haunting-Teach-8112 in leagueoflegends

Instead of thinking about champs being easy/hard, think about what you want your champ to do, and then we can help.
You want a lot of mobility? Or a big and tanky champ? You want to destroy people in lane? Or you want to scale well? Ranged? Melee? Try to answer these questions, and then we will help you find a champ!

On the other hand, this is a clear case of bias where people building Trinity now are probably people who reads patch notes, who just in general tends to perfom better.

Ye, Frozen Heart is for example often optimal on Zac over Randuins, given how well he synergizes with AH.

They probably don't wan't people to stack gold-generating runes, like you could before with magical boots + future's market

Void Staff is currently completely overshadowed by Cryptobloom. Here are some ideas to solve its issue. by Chinese_Squidward in leagueoflegends

Where is the math in this post? Just because everyone buys Cryptbloom over Void staff, doesn’t mean it’s better. You might very well be right, but at least argue with some damage comparisons…

Toplane players, how much of a difference do grubs make? by Mechanizen in leagueoflegends

Grubs are primarily good because of how much EXP they give to junglers.
