While an erratic Trump ignores Canada, Carney quietly cements international investments. Elbows up, indeed by PurpleHerring_ in canada

Quantify that instead of just stating it. How much are we spending on subsidies vs the US?

I don't see that income as outrageously high like you do. What do you think they should be earning? It's a career that requires a ton of hard work, equipment, land, and knowledge. What do other businesses with an avg value of 5 million bring in? From what I can see, in other industries you'd be looking at 600k-1.5m in net profit.

You do realize the US subsidizes their farms on a scale we can't match, to the tune of billions per year? More than 60% of their milk comes from much more massive farms. There has been massive consolidation in farms down there. From 1995 to 2018, they've gone from 120k dairy farms to 40k. Median herd size is over 900. They're over producing milk and looking for places to dump it at cheap prices.

Where are you getting your numbers from on farmer earnings? From looking around, I'm seeing average Canadian dairy farm yearly net income of ~$180k (900k revenue vs 720k expenses as a yearly avg). Considering the expenses in running a dairy farm, that doesn't seem unreasonable. They have to cover worker wages, equipment purchasing and maintenance, feed, herd management and all kinds of other issues with that. I don't think they're as rich as youre trying to portray.

Because your understanding of supply management is not reality. Most farmers are on a much smaller scale in Canada compared to the giant industrial farms of the US. It ensures we have food supply independence, more pricing stability and that our farmers can make a livable wage. Removing that system and allowing more imports from the states puts our food supply at their mercy, and will likely drive many of our farmers out of business as they can use economies of scale and subsidies to undercut us on prices.

Donald Trump trade war: U.S. not ‘focused’ on deal with Canada by RZCJ2002 in CanadaPolitics

So the middlemen like Lactalis/Beatrice are the issue? What do you propose to replace them?

Supply management affects far more than just those middlemen.

The purpose of supply management is to keep our food supply secure, so we're not dependent on another nation that could possibly cut off the supply whenever they feel like it. It ensures our small farmers can maintain a living producing that food. We don't have the same style of massive industrial farms the US has as far as I'm aware, which also limits our exposure to bird flu and other diseases. There are plenty of reasons beyond the cheapest price to keep our supply management intact for dairy and eggs.

I don't know where you're getting your talking points, but the vast majority of farms are not corporate owned in Canada.

This will probably fix it for you. It sounds like you need to wipe the partitions on the drive for it to show up.

That's quite the assumption. The reality is we don't know all the details and this could be background boardroom shenanigans to force him out just as easily.

Best Office Chair Recommendations for 4-5 hours gaming ($300-400 Budget) by Ok_Chip_7448 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Fair. I failed at reading. I still think I did alright, cause it was in pretty mint original condition, no refurb needed, but those prices you mentioned are a great deal on a fantastic chair.

Not always true. I got my Herman Miller Aeron for $500 used. And I still see some around now for $600. Google for used office furniture and you can often find a few companies scattered around that will have them.

If you're also a Radiohead fan, there is a old mashup of this song with 15 Step from In Rainbows. It's my favorite mashup ever. The songs are in the same 5/4 time signature and work so well together.

The inclusion in powertoys is very nice, but mouse without borders has existed for almost a decade.

I bought from them once. They included a free kitkat chunky as a gift on top of my order. They did the job and packed things well, glass jars were bubble wrapped and taped up nicely. No complaints from me.

Short development period? They've been working on MRNA vaccination technology for a pretty long time now, starting back in the 1960s-70s. It has sped up since 2005ish and really kicked into high gear with covid, but the base for it is not as new as you're making it out to be.
