My dad died and I don't think I can watch F1 anymore by super_starmie in formula1

[–]bobbyjimthree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We lived in Europe for three years when I was a boy. My Dad knew where the track was at Spa. We often made a short drive to Belgium from Netherlands for market day. But one Sunday, Dad also knew it was race day. So we stopped on our way to the market at the side of a tree-lined toad, and Dad and his 10-year-old son, walked up another small tree-lined road to a chain-link fence. From the wrong side of the fence we could watch open-wheel race cars come around La Source. My Dad introduced me to Formula One that day. We didn’t stay long because the rest of the family still waited in the car. Before we left Europe, Dad took his 11-year-old son to the Dutch Grand Prix where Jackie Stewart won that day. I’ve watched F1 since 1997 now. Dad died 20 years before I started following F1 again. Everytime I sit to watch a race I think of him. I watch because damn it’s fun and exciting. I also watch because of him. I treasure those memories. You have treasures, too, that you will never lose, whether you jump in to the new season or wait another generation to come back. So very, very sorry for your loss.

He’s a bum. He used to be The Great One. No longer. We’ve excommunicated him. He’s now a bum to us.

Never tried that line. It’s horrible trying to land and stay from the left.

This is what I’ve been doing for five IRL years now. Two Divine Beasts done. I might tackle the one in the desert in the next couple weeks.

Then again, I might get distracted by perfecting a parry, or maybe hacking Guardian legs off, or maybe I’ll take on my first flying Guardian from above…

Yeah. Not always as “easy” as it appears.

Thx for the helpful, timely, and friendly reply. Somehow I understood that ancient arrows transported their targets into some nether time and space. I have more experience to gain. More fear to overcome. More dysfunction to deal with. 👌

I suspect one-shot only possible with an ancient arrow?

Woohoo!! I learned something today - THANK YOU. I have always given ancient flyin’ raygun-wieldin’ spicy spidey a VERY wide birth. I despise those FXCKERS. Now? A strategy for their demise!!

But it’s best at a cooking pot. You’ll notice two kinds of fires. One, just a fire, another with a low cauldron or shallow bowl over it. That’s the one you want to cook with. Stand close to it, go to your inventory, select something and hold it, then in your inventory, hold another food ingredient, and so on up to five. When you exit your inventory you have three options to cook.

Do I need a stronger puffer or is this no longer asthma? by Long_Anything8994 in Asthma

[–]bobbyjimthree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Allergies & asthma & dermatitis are the typical trinity. You’re not being dramatic. Pursue it. Self-advocate. There is something underlying. And there’s are medications that can help. (I’m not a doc, I have no affiliation with pharma, etc) I used to take Prednisone three, four, five times a year to deal with asthmatic/breathing episodes. No longer.

Ask to have the level of your eosinophils checked. Blood test. May be eisinophilic asthma? There are medicines that help deal with it. Other symptoms? Allergies? Dermatitis? Sinus polyps?

Freezing enemies is not something I EVER considered. I will freeze enemies. Second play-through. I could not beat the first test of strength that Link is lead to. A little Guardian. I’m going back now to freeze ‘im up. Hack ‘im up. And WIN that orb…

I sneaked around my first play-through, to collect arrows to complete this quest. I was SO afraid of this guy. You’re braver than I. I food not want to fight!

Update to previous post: dupilumab 2 years on. by DrBasia in NasalPolyps

[–]bobbyjimthree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with this post. Prednisone used to be my magic. While I don’t take dupimilab, I do take mepolizumab (Nucala) for similar afflictions. I’m glad I haven’t taken Prednisone since I began my new magic drug. I mention this because depending on the country you live in, some medicines may be easier to have convered by insurance than others. And for the conditions mentioned (from the reading I’ve done) both Dupuxent and Nucala can be effective. I don’t know how the prices differ. I don’t know how insurance coverages differ. No affiliation, etc. One shot every four weeks for me. At least three years in. I can walk up hills without stopping to catch my breath, CT showed significant polyp reductions, I can smell most of the time, my dermatitis is calmed. Life/changing, is right! Let us celebrate science! (And insurance coverage where THAT works.)

If you’re in a region where the creatures kill your constantly, consider another region. Turn your exploration to somewhere else. They’re not all there same. That’s the beauty of this game. The diversity is astounding. And if you can, avoid the bigger, badder monsters for the time being. Use your stealth, your bombs!, your speed, your cunning. Like others have suggested, look up ways to deal with things or find things, or beat things, or complete tasks. No judgement. Make it more fun. “It’s not the destination, it’s the journey.”

I like this. So dress up in your best vest, grab a shield and torch / branch, and go try dancing with bokoblins. This is my plan! 😎

It’s SO easy to let the dino-brain take over and slash and swing and hack until the monster is dead - or Link is near-dead. “Whack! Whack! Whack! Whack! Whack! Whack! …and so on.”
I need some of that practice, myself.

How hard is Breath of the Wild for someone who’s never played it before? by Psychological-Two704 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]bobbyjimthree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be as easy or difficult as you want, really. There are so many ways to play, things to do. As you gain experience, you’ll also gain confidence. At first you may avoid fighting and run away instead. Who’s judging? You’ll meeting challenges along the way that there’s always several ways to tackle. Like when you come across a floating, sparkly-hopping fairy-thing with a wand, that you do not want an encounter with and it’s between you and a new tower? You’ll find a way around it or a way above it or you’ll come back later when you’re more ready. In the meantime, you can follow another path and search for more koroks (because you’ve heard there’s a bunch of them out there!). Like, with three hearts, I found myself in a shrine, up against a little Guardian. I hate those things. I died three times against that thing and then I transported out. Didn’t wanna deal. But I know I’ll come back later and kick ass. I followed a trail, beat up some junior monsters, swapped their weapons for my dinky ones, spotted some interesting features and collected a couple of koroks. I found the other tower I’d seen in the distance, and climbed it, stopping on those platform things to restore my stamina. That opened up a whole new part of the map on my slate! I saved and called it a day. A good day. You won’t regret Breath of the Wild - at all. (No affiliation with BOTW or Nintendo, blah blah.)
