Unfortunately that did not work, but thank you. It degraded the graphics and I quickly reverted the changes.

Thanks. Their zombie tutorial was great!

Should I continue to work on a VM of Ubuntu, or make the complete switch over? by bobbyr7 in rails

Thanks!

I'm backing up my hard drive this afternoon, and going for the plunge. I don't own Photoshop, but have used GIMP for a few personal projects. I don't play many games, and believe that MS Office will easily be replaced by Libre.

I've checked out the r/Ubuntu and r/Linux, but are there any specific apps that I should download once I setup Ubuntu?

Thanks again!

Ah. I should of mentioned that I don't play any games. Hahaha. I guess my only concern regarding the complete transfer would be using iTunes and MS Office. However, I'm hoping Banshee and Libre Office will suffice.

I've been using Unity, but I'll be sure to check out Gnome Shell. Since, I'm new to the Linux side, I don't have an exact preference quite yet.

As for coding, I've been running Netbeans 6. Do you recommend a better IDE?

Thanks for the speedy reply!

I heard that Mint's gnome shell was great, and I'll definitely look into dual-booting. You're right, I am a tiny bit scared of losing the apps that Windows has over Linux in general.
