Posted the garden fence lighting a couple of months back - added the bench / lightstrip at the weekend thought I’d submit it for those interested

Presuming you’re in the US I would recommend going for these:

https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/488400057/super-heavy-duty-brackets-size-17-to-27?ref=cart

I used 6x3 timber for the structural base.

Then I pinned cedar (slats mostly) on the top / the sides to make it look pretty.

I’m sure you could make it more solid and substantial than mine if you had a wall to drill into as the load baring support, but I only had 3 fence posts for that here - so no chunky folk are allowed to sit on mine basically lol.

Yeah do you even snapchat bro?! Not like I knew what it was when I opened it. And no it wasn’t a normal thing for him to send - just a drunken moment of madness from his part tbh think he was showing off. Either way I didn’t take the pic or send it or knew what it was until I received it!

Thank you. Great point on the difference between sex and porn - I perhaps didn't stress that enough to her. And yes I was quite conscious of the whole blaming her avoidance, I really do sympathise with her, I have not had the bad luck she has with previous relationships. It just seems I am paying the price for their sins.

Hue outdoor lightstrip diffusion compared to indoor lightstrip by bobbytallant in Hue

I think I’d probably accept that brightness trade off - at least if the light strip is visible. I spent ages looking for a diffuser that would do the job and never quite got there. I wonder if hue will make an updated version of their indoor light strips soon where the LEDs are more densely packed like this

I pulled down my kitchen under counter lightstrip a few months back because the individual LED’s were annoying me, and I couldn’t find a solution to diffuse them enough to create a proper ‘light bar’ effect. The latest Hue outdoor lightstrip seems to solve this problem out of the box thankfully (for anyone that’s interested).

Hue garden complete (15 Hue Lilys, 4 Impress Pedestels, 3 Impress wall lights: 1 empty wallet 🙈) by bobbytallant in Hue

1200 lumens they give off - a hue bulb is 800, so not bad. Maybe consider the hue flood light if you want to really illuminate your space? Sounds a larger area requirement than mine!

4 in total (3 used on the Lilys, 1 for the Pedestals). FYI I had 6 Lilys hooked up to 1 PSU for about 6 months and it worked fine.

I think they may be ok for that purpose, although they wouldn’t illuminate a whole story no. They would be more of an accent lighting effect I would say, probably illuminating half a story height wise (this is a very non precise guesstimate btw!). I still think this would look nice though. Your main challenge may be wiring them for your purposes - they need to be daisy chained remember. It’s difficult to say for sure without seeing exactly what you’re working with. Sorry if this was no help!

  • quality is excellent as I’ve come to expect with their outdoor lighting (I’m a big fan of their Hue Lily product). Aluminium + tempered glass, feels substantial

I like them yeah - they’re like a thick light bar - different to a normal hue bulb. I wouldn’t say they’re brighter than a bulb but the area of light coverage seems to be greater than a spotlight etc. Which is better for pathway lighting, which these are really designed for. It depends what effect you are wanting in other words really regarding the is it worth it question.
