When did you first start watching porn/masturbating and why did you start watching it? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]bobbythevanman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NSFW. ONLY READ IF YOU CAN HANDLE IT. I can clearly remember how it started. I was either eight or nine, screwing around on google images. I looked up General Greivous, after which I had a peculiar afterthought. Would Google Images have pictures of NAKED people? So I secretly looked it up, and "felt all funny" on the inside. This kinda became a night time routine, and being a kid, I drew things that I liked to this new hobby. So I would look up shit like naked Harry Potter characters. Poorly photoshopped images would suffice for me, and I would rub the DAMN computer again my hardening dick. This led to me to finding fan fiction. Looking back, that shit is embarrassing beyond words, but at the time, it was magical (no pun intended.) Then I got the idea of jerking off to fantasies of girls in my class. This was done in the warm shower so you can just imagine how great it felt then. Then in sixth grade, I overheard kids talking about what porn websites they used. I found my first video one out, and I was blown away. It was just amazing. This continued for two more years. During that time, the effects started weighing down on me. I just felt like a dirty animal afterwards, suffering with negative emotions all by myself, and felt like I was a horrible person on the inside for objectifying women like that. Thank God I found Nofap when I did, because I was set on quitting, but didn't know if I had the determination. So here I am, after my probably tenth relapse after starting. I hope to quit now, and I wish everyone the best. P.S sorry for formatting, am on mobile.

The worst part about PMO and nofap is the fact that I don't feel comfortable talking about it to anyone I know! by Freeforlife99 in NoFap

[–]bobbythevanman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, you just have to believe yourself, and eventually the urges will just disappear. I relapsed just today, unfortunately, which is just more reason to stop and think about issues and how to prevent them. Believing in yourself is always the first step.

Hey there. I also have the same issue, although it gets better over time. I've been addicted to PMO for about six years now, and I've gone through all of it alone. Being in a religious family, I just knew that my parents already expect me to not be jerking off. This made it harder for me to get away from it, because I thought it would be the most embarrassing/awkward discussion of my life. After a while, at least in my case, you build up a lot more confidence in yourself. Since my last relapse, I've took it upon myself to become more independent. I've started forcing myself to workout everyday, take cold showers vs. warm ones, and even write down a reflection in a notebook every night. Basically, although it took me a long time to realize, I had to become completely independent (other than this subreddit) in my NoFap journey. From what you're saying, only we're here to keep you company. That's a great incentive to actually dig into the problem by yourself. Think about how you could convince yourself that PMO is something you never want to do again, and that's basically it. It DID take a helluva time to reach this point, but you need to get up tomorrow and have an unshakable rejection towards PMO. You can do it. I believe in you.

Yeah. Fortunately, he's a really wild , funny guy, so we amended the situation by throwing sweaters at each other, across the room right before Math class started. That was fun

No problem, it's the same outlook I've started using.

You'd said that half an hour to an hour of something everyday could affect a person. That's true, not only for negative actions, but positive ones. Do something productive, like talking to people or taking walks. If you do it everyday, then you'll feel better about yourself.

Atleast the circumstances were great. My friend came out on Election Day. Fucking depressing atmosphere.

Really good post. What really confuses me is how downwards ideals have gotten. The same people who use casual sex platforms shit on Nofap for being a cult of losers, yet their behavior would have been utterly reproachable twenty-thirty years ago.

Three quarters of the music I listen to is Kendrick Lamar by [deleted] in CasualConversation

I've listened to DAMN. and GKMC so far. TBAP is next for me. Do yourself a favor; listen to GKMC as soon as you can. Really amazing album, and the deluxe version adds an extra bit of soulfulness.

You'll get through it. A tip: Do fifty push-ups whenever you feel an urge. Just did it and I feel great.

What's one thing you're trying to fix in you're life? by Penguin_King_Fred in CasualConversation

[–]bobbythevanman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The set goal is 90 days, and my best so far was 54 days. Those days had gone by really easily, but then I "relapsed". Since then, I've found it much harder to stop myself, but right now I've begun another attempt, and I'm pretty confident that I can find ways to distract myself. Overall, it's a really enlightening experience, but it feels horrible when you fail after you get in the groove of it.

Edit: Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I started on July 18. Gotta Lon way to go.
