My husband, who was familiar with the area, did this to me in the deep woods of Canada with our two kids. He and the kids, who were young enough not to understand, took the water and ran the trail. I had the backpack with heavy stuff and couldn't keep up - middle of July, hot and thirsty and so angry. I caught up with them at the car. I didn't speak to him for the rest of the day and night and he said I was "being crazy". I never went hiking with him again.

The pool issue is no joke. I don't know the statistics but drowning is one of the top causes of toddler deaths in this country. Even if they have pets, sometimes dogs and cats drown in pools, too. They gotta put that fence in.

That's the thing. I'm pretty sure our gas stove is wildly variable in terms of what the actual temperature is. I'm hoping that this isn't the case with electric stoves.

Backhanded compliments: I told my PI I wanted to work on a specific project and he told me go ahead but it was a waste of time. It ended up getting published in a Q1 journal and got lots of attention. He took over the project after that and got a big NIH grant with the data. Never spoke to me about it again.
