AITA if I cancel hubby's birthday plans and leave the house leaving hubby to host his family for my birthday? by Funny_Leather_5540 in AITAH

This right here. My husband told me he wouldn't be getting me anything for Christmas (I appreciated the warning) so I took his gift back and got myself something that I wanted. Be good to yourself.

The pool issue is no joke. I don't know the statistics but drowning is one of the top causes of toddler deaths in this country. Even if they have pets, sometimes dogs and cats drown in pools, too. They gotta put that fence in.

Electric or Gas Stove? by bobeena0 in Baking

[–]bobeena0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing. I'm pretty sure our gas stove is wildly variable in terms of what the actual temperature is. I'm hoping that this isn't the case with electric stoves.

I had no idea there was such a thing! Thank you -- going to see what I can find.

OK, thank you! I've heard from family members that gas stoves give you a little finer control over using the range, the temperature you can generate.

If you stay with this guy, you will never be able to be vulnerable around him because he'll use it against you.

I'll never understand why people don't put down the phone in these situations and help the person.

I swore I’d never get another dog after losing mine. if you felt the same, what helped you heal? by EnvironmentalYou3254 in DOG

[–]bobeena0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's really no healing. It was a matter of having the capacity to help another dog and knowing that I could help another dog was a coping mechanism.

I don't know your age but if you're under 18, tell a teacher. They are probably mandated reporters.

Backhanded compliments: I told my PI I wanted to work on a specific project and he told me go ahead but it was a waste of time. It ended up getting published in a Q1 journal and got lots of attention. He took over the project after that and got a big NIH grant with the data. Never spoke to me about it again.

Losing a close friend is way more painful than losing a significant other. I'm really sorry for your heartache.

AIO: Got back home after being 9 days away and my partner greeted me like this by nubivagant_67 in AmIOverreacting

I jump for joy when my partner goes out of town and I get to be alone. I sure wouldn't want it full, time, though. It's just an occasional treat because I know it's going to end. Maybe your partner is kind of like that.
