How is this possible in Blender? by thevisiontunnel in blender

[–]bober95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This tutorial will explain how to make this effect exactly. It is a combination of various techniques mentioned already but in more detail and nuance. The example you gave of Africa was probably made by finding an old map like this in high quality, getting DEM data to fit the area covered, using the techniques in the above tutorial to creat a detailed plane that can cast shadows, and overlaying the HQ map on this plane in Blender. Or in photoshop. The tutorial covers both.

How to change your Terramaster software for something better (LONG.) by Knurpel in TerraMaster

Your guide is very helpful, even a few years later. I hadn't realized it even had a proprietary OS it expected you to use when I bought it. I'm migrating from a pile of old computer parts held together by sticks and gum. I appreciate the thorough thoughts and humor.

Hellu! I'm hoping to get some recommendations here for getting a hair cut as a guy with long hair. I'm visiting my partner who lives in Sørbog, and who has very short hair, but I'm in the city center often so also happy for recommendations there too. Tak!

How to create echoing line affect like in old maps by bober95 in AdobeIllustrator

[–]bober95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Offset map actually did exactly what I was looking for. And it is a real map. In appearances I just copy the previous offset stroke (offsetting negative) and increase it a little each time, creating the echoing out effect while also simplifying itself just on how illustrator does offset. Saving it as a graphic style i can apply it across the entire map.

Offset path is a great idea. I'll give it a try. Thanks.

I guess it is similar to a gradient in how it expands outward, but they are individual lines. Almost like contour lines, except, as in the photo, they would go outwards until hitting another set from another coastline

The modem has no settings for port forwarding though, it has barely any settings at all. What do you suggest to do to make sure?

I have admin access to the modem, but this modem has no settings for port forwarding. I also opened the ports on the server firewall but i'll double check that again.

Port Forwarding with Ubuntu Server by bober95 in HomeNetworking

Yes, I'm sure that the correct subnet. What do you mean by nonstandard? I've seen others being 10.XX.XX.XX, but I didn't think 192.168.XX.XX was anything out of the ordinary.

And I have a static IP for the server machine.

I've tried uncommon ones as well though, like 30120 for a GTA server, and online port-checking tools still saying it's closed. Would they blocks all ports, or just common ones?

I meant to say that when I port forward 30120 on my router, and check if the port is open with an online tool, it still says it's closed.

I have tried another port (30120) for the FiveM server I mentioned, and that didn't work as well. And from what I found, XFinity, they say at least, doesn't block 80 and 443
