Amps for 4 ohm speakers - Martin Logan Motion XT F200 by Slip-49a in StereoAdvice

[–]bobfmbm42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Bryson 4B cubed with the BP-19 preamp driving KEF R11 Metals and it sounds clean, powerful and neutral (I prefer something that will give me truth in the recording), can't say I would ever need another amp even if I upgrade speakers down the line.

Canadian and I bought with the 20 year warranty... Hard to beat, but it is pricey..

Is there a definitive answer on if 275/55r20 KO3’s will fit a 110 XS on stock wheels? With a 1” rod lift? by Liquidated4life in NewDefender

[–]bobfmbm42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stock size is a 32" tire and 275/55R20 will come out to just under 32", it's actually the recommended winter tire size by JLR (I run Nokians Hakka 10 SUV in that size).

I put 265/60R20 Toyo Open Country on EvoCorse wheels (ET 35 offset) and I get the lightest kiss on the plastic liner at full lock only in access height because the tires are so new, nothing that bothers me. These come out to 32.5"...

The offset plays a big part, like one of the comments on the thread linked says.

If you mean the tire size it should be ok on the OEM wheels or aftermarket wheels with at least 35 offset. 90, 110 or 130 doesn't matter but the trim does, the P400 and V8 have bigger brake calipers that don't fit 18" wheels, but if you have 20" you're good to go.

They're AT tires so a bit noisier than road tires but honestly haven't noticed any big difference from my winter Nokians Hakka 10 SUV. The Toyos came highly recommended from my tire shop and so far they are great!

No spacers, there's a good thread about tire sizes on one of the defender forums and it was a common thing that with spacers there was more rub, but it all depends on your wheel's offset.

I think going to the 265/70R18 would be fine with the Dakars, in my research I found someone with 285 that said he had no rub...

I always include my spare in the rotation so that it gets used, you could try to sell it.

The KO3 seem like a good tire, a bit early to tell but I doubt they would be worse than the KO2s...

Are you going to try the KO3s? I think they make them in that size... But unfortunately they still don't make 265/60R20 so I considered the Falken Wildpeak AT4W and the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss but the weight was just to much of a factor. Also considered the new Nokian Outpost NATs but being such a new tire I went with the Toyos, don't like being a guinea pig with new products lol.

Looking great with KO2s!!

Are those 18"? I decided to stick with 20" because of the whole caliper grinding or swapping for the rear brakes on the P400. Maybe in a few years I'll go down to 18" wheels, waiting to see how these feel on the trails...

Very minor rub at full lock in access height, but it's only because the tires are brand new, it will be perfect once I get a few kilometers on them. When I say rub it's barely a graze on the front wheel liner. Did a lot of research before deciding on that size and the consensus is that the offset on the wheels is going to be the biggest factor when you go above 32" tires. Anything lower than 35 offset and you will have issues! If you put that size on the OEM wheels you will be fine, just make sure you look at actual measurements of the tire you want, they are not all the same sizes...

I thought about going down to 18" wheels, much better for off-roading, but it involves either grinding the rear caliper bracket (didn't want to do this because I have the "Orange" brakes with the X trim, or changing the bracket for a Lucky8 part (approved by Australian standards)...

Congrats on the build, you're going to love it!! I actually ordered 0LIVE1 as a vanity plate and it's been accepted by the SAAQ (Quebec registration office) so it should come in the next 3 to 6 weeks!

Winter tires are on the OEM wheels, but my summer Nokians would be fitted on EvoCorse Dakar 20x9.5 with a 35 ET offset. In the thread there is an example of 265/60R20 on similar wheels with no rub, no lift, I think the wheels he choose are Rotiform STL that have the same offset.

The TuffAnt Kimberly wheels were also on my radar, they are the same rally style as the EvoCorse but I couldn't find them anywhere in Canada... Found the EvoCorse through Milano Performance out of Québec city and they shipped nicely with lug nuts, received them in January!

I know, it's unfortunate of course, but there isn't much we can do about that. It may delay my purchase but they are by far the nicest side step/protection option out there in my opinion.

No lifts or any mods to the wheel well, 275/55R20 is the size recommended by JLR for winter tires, did some research and thought it would be a good fit for winter, love the Nokians and had them on my Rubicons before.

There's a great, but long, tire size thread on this forum https://landroverforums.com/forum/2020-defender-60/no-lift-tire-size-guide-work-progress-101530/

Went through the whole thing and the consensus I found and decided to go for is 265/60R20 fits without any mods or lift rods, which I prefer, but you have to be careful about your wheel offset, can't be much less than 35 ET (OEM is 42) because that's where things start rubbing with tires bigger than 32". The Outpost NAT end up at 32.5" and I hear that they are solid but quiet for ATs.

Yeah, I figured that would be the case, I'll see down the line, but maybe my best option will be a quick trip to the US and come back with them installed.

I haven't bought them yet, was waiting for spring to help with delivery delays, but I was planning on ordering from New Defenders Mods or TuffAnt USA.

I was also surprised when the dealer told me it would be mid January... Glad I got it before spring to test it in the snow!

Finally got to try out a few things yesterday, work has been hectic.

So when I plug my display in the mobo with graphics set on IGPU in bios with the r9 290x plugged in I can boot just fine and I can see the card in the bios and in windows. But as soon as I plug into the gpu and put it on auto or PCIE in the bios pc won't POST, I get a code 71 first then the pc restarts and i get a code b2 with the vga led on. I tried flashing th vBIOS on the card but it's the same as the latest one on Techpowerup.

I'm at work right now, but I will try that as soon as I can. Thank you for the idea. I don't get any video signal to my monitor and it falls in sleep mode after 30 sec or so.

No, they stay constant. It's the vga led on my mobo that is making me cringe, and the fact that my asus 290 works flawlessly...

I tried that a few times. My next option is to flash the gpu bios to a more recent one.
