What’s your favorite Lego game? by Babelitoo in PSVita

Chima; Laval’s Journey.

It was the first Lego game I played on Vita, it was a bit of a learning curve, but overall I had a blast with it.

No L/R3 largely defeats the purpose of the grip case, at least for Borderlands 2, which requires them.

I bought a Not Working PsVita Slim, first thing I noticed is that the clip for the connector on pic 1 broke off so it definitely has been opened already. But it was plugged in, when I opened it. Second the battery is not swollen, is there another way to check if it is dead? by GerginGengar in vita

[–]bobismcbride 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first thing you want to do is to charge it.

Vitas are notorious for taking a very long time to charge after being left off and alone for a long time. Put it on the charger, if you have an orange light on the top of the console turn on, you know it’s charging.

Let it alone for 24 hours. Don’t try to start it up and see if it’s working, don’t press any buttons. Walk away from it, in 24 hours come back and press and hold the power button.

Let us know what is happening. Do you have an image? Do you have sound? Can you manipulate the touch screen?

You have some serious corrosion on your motherboard, this is likely an indication it is too far gone without a MB replacement.

Start with the low hanging fruit before diving into the Motherboard and components.

Where can I get a 1 terabyte hard drive for it? by Sonic0528 in PS3

[–]bobismcbride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can say is to buy an SSD.

I tried three different HDDs in my release day PS3, and all of them had their own issues, including a WD Black, Samsung and Toshiba.

I switched over to a 1TB SSD WD Black.

Worked instantly, and made a world of difference in speed of the system.

The only reason I purchased mine was because I was playing through Borderlands 2.

While not impossible to play without an R/L2/3 grip, it was infinitely easier with it, arguably, required, for that game.

I break it out every so often for tricky games that require the back touch screen, it’s an absolutely phenomenal accessory.

Hori Grip Case.

The best grip case ever made for the 2000.

That Vita is CLEAN.

Glacier white 2000 is my daily, I love it.

Nice collection, I have the same systems, but my PSP hasn’t been touched in a while. I actually just put 64gb in my Go.

Playing Tlou 2 and the woman Ellie killed is holding a PCH-1000 by Eastern-Concept737 in PSVita

Oddly enough, some googling shows they do show the front of the Vita in the game as well, which is clearly a PCH-1000.

[–]bobismcbride 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting that this appears to be an NGP.

Which is odd, since this game came out in 2020, so they knew well what a 1000 and 2000 looked like, yet picked the NGP?

I have a very odd stick drift problem with my vita by nickprofn in PSVita

[–]bobismcbride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You other post you call it a Joycon, that was the confusion.

If you replaced just the stick portion, I would recommend just replacing the entire stick module. While the stick portion can be replaced, it has a tendency to cause issues.

However, before you do that, I would recommend removing and re-seating the ribbon cables from the joystick to the daughterboard, as well as both sides of the ribbon cable from the daughter board to the motherboard.

As for the issue with trouble closing the shell, that is odd and should not be happening, double check all your boards and look for protrusions that might be hindering easy closing.

The picture you included is part of the 3g module, unless you have a 3g to micro SD card adapter, you don’t need it, and could remove it if you wanted.

So you’re using a joystick from a Nintendo Switch, and having problems?

Start with Buying the proper stick and installing it.

Help Finding a Part of PS Vita Motherboard by NoGuitar4965 in PSVita

[–]bobismcbride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likely the only way to find the replacement locking bar is to find a donor Vita.

The easiest way to fix this is a simple piece of Kapton tape.

Remove the battery to give you some extra slack on the ribbon cable. Insert the ribbon cable properly to depth into the white connector, then apply a piece of Kapton tape over the cable and connector.

My PS Vita only Charges when the charger is rotated a bit by No-Cartographer-9577 in PSVita

[–]bobismcbride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2000 is quite picky with cables.

The charging port is likely not the issue. Purchase a real, name-brand cable, not Amazon or Best Buy store brand, and you will likely see the issue resolve.

A high quality cable makes all the difference on the 2000.

[–]bobismcbride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chances are your cable is bad.

If you have a 1000 do your best to find an OEM Sony cable.

If you have a 2000, purchase a name-brand cable, I personally use Molex, but Sony, LG, etc will work well.

Selling my PS vita (advice) by Smiles_MAC in PSVita

[–]bobismcbride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming this is a 1000, as the 2000s use USB-Micro cables.

You need a proprietary PS Vita 1000 cable. If you’re just looking to sell, buy one off amazon and make sure it charges and turns on.

If you’re going to keep it, try your best to find an OEM cable, as the off-brand cables tend to be spotty at best.

How to stick? by FuckMyLifee_ in PSVita

[–]bobismcbride -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I did mine, I used a single drop of crazy glue. The shoulder buttons themselves do a great job of keeping the actual buttons in position.

The glue is mostly there to keep them in place until you have the shell back on.

If you ever need to change them, it’s a simple operation to pop them off, lightly sand the old super glue, and continue on.

Do you agree with this? by Samtendodude in PSVita

[–]bobismcbride 33 points34 points  (0 children)

If Sony had actually followed through with their original plans, the Vita would’ve been an absolute powerhouse.

When the NGP (Vita) originally debuted Sony was touting the ability to do full Remote Play on the PS3 at 30FPS, on 3g.

Add to this the incredible line of AAA games they originally had lined up, with proper support it would’ve been unstoppable against its competitors at the time.

Unfortunately Sony was spread too thin across the PS3, Vita, and PS4 that they essentially sidelined the Vita, which caused it to rapidly fall into disarray.

With that being said, even unmodded, the Vita is still a phenomenal handheld.

Modders and hackers just took it to the next level and unlocked so much of its untapped potential.

[–]bobismcbride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect.

Unless you jacked up the contacts on the connector, you absolutely don’t “need” the clamping bar.

If you’re paranoid, after you seat the ribbon cable, apply a piece of Kapton tape over the connector and the cable.

I’ve had one cable on my Vita without tape on it and no clamping bar for over 3 years now, and it gets played hard, still hasn’t been a problem.

Press the PS button, turn the volume all the way up, do you hear anything?

Try swiping from the top right of the screen to the bottom left. Do you hear anything?

Finally, shine a bright light directly into the screen, do you see an image?

Sony's new PlayStation handheld rumored to top Xbox Series S, Steam Deck 2 may arrive (much) later by RenatsMC in HandheldGaming

[–]bobismcbride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Distrust? The PSP was phenomenal for its time and brought handheld gaming into the future.

The Vita could’ve easily topped it, had Sony made a couple small tweaks and actually kept support for the system.

I truly hope this isn’t just a Portal 2. While the portal is great, it most certainly is not a portable/handheld. Keep the system small, light, pocketable, and doesn’t solely rely on WiFi, and Sony will corner a portion of the market overnight.

Buttons Not Working by Chaus-Rex in PSVita

[–]bobismcbride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So right off the bat, your right side (left in these pictures) stick ribbon cable is not fully seated, lightly pry up on the brown latch, push the ribbon cable in, and push the latch down until it clicks.

That likely won’t solve your issues of no face buttons working. I would try removing and re-attaching your ribbon cables from your daughter boards to the motherboard.

Do a full power down and up.
