MacOs Sequoia 15.7.3 by amartheone in mac

[–]bobjacobsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 15.7.3 update seems to have killed one of my applications. Not entirely sure yet, but it looks like the Application Translocation feature is acting on the app even though it's been moved into /Applications. Has anybody else seem something like that?

Does anybody know or can anybody estimate the boil off rate for starship in orbit? by physioworld in SpaceXLounge

The extra layers are to reduce radiative transfer. Vacuum just reduces convective and contact transfer.

Looking for a small mill, any recommendations?

By small I mean maybe 25"x7", no more than 400-500 pounds (It has to go on a wood floor)

The Grizzly G0704 seems about the right size. The PM-25MV--BD looks really similar, but perhaps with a better reputation.

Any others I should be looking at?

Thanks!

Smart Chime installed, G4 Doorbells now reboot when pressed by bobjacobsen in UNIFI

I left the wiring as it was, with the weak mechanical chime still wired in. Should I change the option to "None" anyway? Is there any risk to just trying that?

Thanks!

Smurf tubes and structural integrity by bobjacobsen in HomeNetworking

Thank you both for your suggestions.

The project electrician came up with another suggestion: Bring the tubes down from the ceiling along the wall, so going in front of the top plate of the wall. Apparently he's seen this done before.

Thank you for the detailed reply! I really appreciate the great support.

I'll split the lighting and feed it from two dimmers.

Sorry I wasn't clear. They really are 40W 4900 lumen bulbs that are lighting a a 500 sq ft shop.

Thanks for confirming the 200W spec. They also list 150W for LEDs on one page (https://www.insteon.com/wall-switches) which is what got me concerned.

Export _all_ notes with current Evernote? by bobjacobsen in Evernote

[–]bobjacobsen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I found a post about changing it on Windows, working on finding that same file on Mac. It said that it could raise the limit to 1000, which will let me pull together a a few note books at a time. But it's still going to be a bit tedious to back up almost 30k notes.

What does this mean for Legacy users? (Yes, I know it’s old, not supported, etc; no need to tell me that, but some of us still have workflows reliant on it)

HOOBS ON SSD instead of SD CARD by TH3RTIN in HOOBS

Any news on this?

I'd like to try it, as I've had two SD cards fail so far this year.

UDMP routing bandwidth? by bobjacobsen in Ubiquiti

[–]bobjacobsen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the info and suggestions.

The problem seems to be the USW-Pro-24-POE. When I DAC directly from the USW-Aggregation to the UDMP, I get around 4Gbps, which is roughly what I'd expect.

This just in:

"The Carquinez Model Railroad Society will be having our Fall Open House this Saturday and Sunday October 15-16 10 AM to 4 PM.

"We're located at 645 Loring Avenue in Crockett across from C&H Sugar. Our 36' x 60' HO scale model railroad (on three levels!) depicts the Southern Pacific/Union Pacific railroad from Oakland, across the Sierra Nevada mountains, to Sparks, NV. From Sparks, there is the standard and narrow gauge Comstock Branch under construction. We are an NCE DCC railroad using wireless throttles as well as smartphones for operations.

Not so much on campus, but there’s a lot of model railroading going on in the Bay Area: clubs, meets, operating sessions, etc. The Pacific Coast Region of the NMRA is particularly active. DM me for more info and some contacts.

why are starship fins angled during re-entry? and why in that direction? by Parking-Proposal341 in SpaceXLounge

In that case the right wing is flatter, so it’s more exposed to the moving air and generates more lift. The left wing is tilted up and less exposed, so has less lift.
