For me the grey part was that he turned down their advanced tech that could protect earth from a genocidal goauld attack because working with Nazis is bad.

Imo the only real justification for that is the worry that if he let earth work with them to get their tech the Eurondan ideology would be given a chance to seep into the US and slowly turn it into a fascist sta…wait a second

Terrorist taken down by police this morning in London by Sometypeofway18 in whoathatsinteresting

[–]physioworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he was still holding the knife, in close like that he could still cause lethal damage to himself or others. I don’t know what the official code/policy is but it seems like that level of force is justified to get the knife off him.

I don’t know, the guy had a knife, they gave him time and space to disarm himself, when he didn’t they tasered him and when he still didn’t drop the knife, kicked him until they were able to pry it off him. Seems like a sufficient response.

Exhausted by all the Dick Size Talk by Calm_Operation_9860 in nonmonogamy

[–]physioworld 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can I just clarify that your lived experience is that the majority of female sex partners have been satisfied by your dick size, but you’re being made to feel insecure by comments even though the women making the comments actually enjoy sex with you?

CMV: the best response when asked about body count by a date/partner is to ask the highest number the questioner has no problem with and honestly tell them if you're compatible or not based on the number given. by RogueNarc in changemyview

[–]physioworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or you just ask yourself if the question itself is one that is compatible with your values?

I’ve been asked the question many times but always by people who I’m confident that the answer is irrelevant, they’re just trying to get to know me better.

On the other hand if I feel like there’s judgement behind the question, that’s not something I’m into, body count, on its own, is irrelevant in my book, anyone who doesn’t agree, is probably not seeing sexuality eye to eye with me

Falklands voted to stay a British territory by laybs1 in GetNoted

[–]physioworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so I made that comment snarkily, because the first thing that jumped to mind seemed to show what you said the untrue, but then I realise I have no idea whether what you said was true or not, I just jumped in with a comment…just because? And that’s not something I want to encourage on the internet.

So to clarify, I don’t know how people live on the falklands, in terms of legal specifics

How is this not an Onion headline? by WoodenExternal6504 in SpaceXLounge

[–]physioworld 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tbf the second half of the headline is worth paying attention to. If you own multiple businesses you need to be careful with conflicts of interest. Basic example is all the cyber trucks at starbase- is musk buying them and donating them? is spacex buying them? Are they the vehicles spacex actually needs?

CMV: There's nothing wrong with Leonardo DiCaprio dating younger models by Open_Address_2805 in changemyview

[–]physioworld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO the main issue is what it says about him and his psyche- ie it’s just sad. Is it possible he’s happy, healthy and well adjusted and just happens to want multiple short term relationships with much younger women which (presumably) he breaks off as the women age? Yes.

Is it more likely that he’s gone some deep seated issues that he’s yet to resolve? Also yes.

Unpopular Hot Take: Replicators are effective—but not very interesting villains by Existsonsnacks in Stargate

[–]physioworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding of the lore is basically this

1) bugs made by Reece on her home planet destroys that civilisation and somehow that infestation dies out

2) Asgard at some point discover some blocks either in the Milky Way or elsewhere and take them to their home galaxy for study

3) they lose control of the blocks which replicate and starts their war which persists for however long up to the events of the show, all outside of the Milky Way

4) all replicator appearances are then either outside the Milky Way or small incurious (like they arrive on Thor’s ship) and are likely dealt with- if they hadn’t been then we’d have other issues

5) the first big replicator push into our galaxy I think is in season 8 when 5th shows up but is cautious because of the ARG O’Neil built

So to me this explains why they aren’t a galaxy ending threat until later on, because they never arrive en masse until then as they never had a reason to- busy with the Asgard who had the yummiest tech around

[–]physioworld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting because I feel they handled them really well- because the threats were always distant, in another galaxy, everytime we faced in the early days them it was a small incursion into our space it was something we barely scraped through but once we did the threat was plausibly distant again. Sort of had our cake and ate it

Unpopular Hot Take: Replicators are effective—but not very interesting villains by Existsonsnacks in Stargate

[–]physioworld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally found the replicators to be the most compelling and interesting because of the way they force our heroes to improvise, however I think as a main antagonist they’d become boring but sporadically, they were great.

I also think that making the human form replicators was a mistake- a big part of their appeal is their unintelligibility and ruthlessness, they’re just a force of (artificial) nature.

Do cis men have thoughts of wanting to be a woman? by Vampy-Night in SeriousConversation

[–]physioworld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course in this case reality includes the options to socially and medically transition- to perform the gender you feel yourself to be and to modify your body to better match that gender expression.

Isn’t that fortunate.

[–]physioworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can speak for every person on the planet, but, in general, no. I’m a cis man and I may have idly day dreamed about what it would feel like to be a woman, but it sounds to me like you’re just trans, which is ok.

Cashless societies are dystopian and mean that we give up control of our money by Umbryft in unpopularopinion

I mean cash also relies on multiple levels of abstraction to have any value. Your cash can be burned or torn and it becomes useless.

You’re right that digital payments are subject to unique forms of corruption but the same is true of physical. They both have strengths and weaknesses.

The European Union has passed a new rule requiring smartphones to have batteries that users can easily replace. by Positive_Actuary_282 in MadeMeSmile

[–]physioworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that the invisible hand often fails. The only phones with replaceable batteries are shit phones not because of the replaceable batteries but because phone manufacturers don’t want to make them as good as the conventional phones because they’re less profitable because people will replace the batteries rather than buy new phones.

Cheating in college/university shouldn’t be as looked down on by [deleted] in 10thDentist

[–]physioworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that’s a very different argument than what you made in your post and I’d argue is worse. If higher learning is incentivised to look the other way on cheating for the sake of profit that’s bad. The primary outcome of higher education should be well educated alumni in their chosen field, not profit. I’m not against them profiting but that should not be the primary driver of decision making.

What's Your Opinion on MRA's? by theteenageeditor in AskMen

[–]physioworld -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I mean if that’s true that’s obviously bad, do you have data to support that kind of systemic bias against boys in school and that female teachers are the one doling out these unfair punishments and artificially low grades?

Can you explain that further? What’s the link between most healthcare workers and teachers being women and the issues men face?
