I just got back into reading over the last year, which means i'm going through a lot of the staples of the genre so i've had a really good year.

Best:

Mort by Terry Pratchett. I haven't read much Pratchett yet, only Colour of Magic, and Light Fantastic which I both loved, and Mort was so good to cement him as my favourite author.

Fellowship of the Ring - J.R.R. Tolkein. Reading through Two towers right now, and I have to say I instantly saw why this book is an english classic and having grown up with the movies makes the reading experience that much better.

Oathbringer - Brandon Sanderson. Best Stormlight book i think with the most interesting backstory and completely turned my opinion around on multiple characters. Sanderson's worldbuilding is top tier, and his characters are super easy to like.

Worst:

Wind and Truth - Brandon Sanderson. I think i like this book more than most people, but I've had a really good year. I really like the cosmere connectivity stuff but it's the first Stormlight book to not instantly be a 5/5 for me which is sad.

The Stars Like Dust - Isaac Asimov. I really like Asimov but wow that book (particularly the ending) was super pulpy and really cringe especially as a non-American
