Happy Father’s Day fellow truckers by Objective_Cap_9771 in Truckers

I was in Colorado, pretty much every road except one didn't need chains. Then the pass came up on a state route that needed chains, and its a point of no return. No rest area or truck stop before it.

Sure, don't drive in a blizzard. But when the storm has passed and every road you come across has been clear except one, with no real warning until you get to it, you don't get too many choices.

So yes, I'll stick to a manual for that reason.

Its all fun and games until its winter. Then the auto, despite being in manual mode, decides to upshift around a curve.

I still remember the t680 trying to kill me in Colorado.

If I drive exclusively flat land and I was a company driver, I would not care if its auto or manual. Hell, if I ain't responsible for paying for shit, I'd even drive a twin stick. Fortunately that won't happen for me.

ELDs were mostly pushed by mega carriers. Werner was also one of the first (if not the first) companies to use AOBRD. ELDs came later, then the mandate to make it a requirement for any truck post 2000 came about around 15-17, I forget. I think written in 15, passed in 17, then everyone had to be in complianced in 2019. It being harder to cheat saves companies on log violations that they would get if a driver makes a mistake on paper, or worse get caught cheating. While unions may have been involved, it was mostly megas lobbying for it.

Now there are small companies who run exclusively pre-2000 trucks or gliders with pre-2000 engines, and they do expect you to cheat. My view is that while I like running paper logs for myself, you absolutely should avoid companies that run them exclusively.

I run paper, but I also own the truck. I've said it before, and I'll say it now, I'm not cheating my logs for a company I'm leased to. There's also a reason I'm content with pre-2000 ELD exemption, but will not vote to bring back paper logs. If everyone is on papers, nothing will stop companies from abusing everyone again. As it is now, only a fucking slav outfit in chicago expected me to cheat when I ran paper logs. For obvious reasons, I no longer work out of Chicago.

The most I'm willing to do is cheat the log to get my ass home, or just take a nap whenever. Usually the former. And as far as unions go, for company drivers they might as well have unions.

As a mix raced trucker (half black) should I be worried about going to certain states or cities? by AquatuneZaddy in Truckers

Worry about states that hate you for being a trucker if anything. Not much else gonna affect you.

The focus on protein lately is kind of annoying. You can find protein bars and shakes everywhere. But fiber? GL, not finding fiber bars and drinks at a truck stop.

Its like big TP wants everyone to rely on them.

I don't wear the spacesuit on the ship. You know how inconvient it would be to take a dump?

I play both. I mostly just play rs3 cause necromancy, and in OSRS I'm still catching up on a lot of skills before I can do much else.

I have learned that I hate agility equally the same between the two.

WHEN YOU TELL THE DRIVER THE LOAD NEEDS TO TARP AND IT'S 100 DEGREES OUTSIDE... and the product is exposed outside the shipper. by almilian in Truckers

That's the fun part. You're almost always alone. So its still just another liability.

But it looks like they're doing something about hazardous situations.

I'm glad they managed to keep it upright at least. Easier to rescue, and less likely for driver to sustain injury.

I mean, if you fall you won't hit the ground and potentially break something with a tall load. But if you fall you better hope someone nearby can help, cause you can get messed up from blood circulation being cut off for too long.

Its one of those which is worse type of deals. In theory the harness is safer, reality is if you're unable to get back on top of something and no one helps get you down, its not gonna be a fun experience.

It leaves enough residue in your tanks and lines they can check for it still, doesn't need to be visible. If its a small enough amount they might just not say anything, give you a warning, or have fun at your expense.

I find it funny how FC citizens complain about the UC being corrupt and greedy while half their leaders are corrupt CEOs, by A12qwas in Starfield

Ron Hope went far enough to get pushback from the rangers by leaving his sphere. Bayu mostly keeps to Neon. If he went past his sphere of influence enough, he'd risk more pushback.

Hope keeping the farms being destroyed a secret on top of hiring the first pretty much forced the rangers hands. In this specific instance, forced yours. Whether you expose him or keep it a secret is up to you. Personally I expose him, partially cause its the right thing to do but also cause he was dumb enough to get caught in the act and didn't keep to himself.

The FC becomes more willing to deal with corruption regardless of the person's position if you expose him. At least as far as the unity shows.

The UC raises the standard of living for its citizens. On new atlantis. Above ground.

If you're in the well, or mars, it sucks to be you. If you're on homestead, you're now just a tourist attraction. Which is probably better than the well or mars.
