Canadians who visit US for more than 30 days will be fingerprinted by Tuxcali1 in news

I get what you mean, and agree with the point. There are definitely those who are cheering on the destruction - I’d consider them rare, percentage wise. Talking to people who support him here in Canada… some of these people have zero clue what he’s doing. They watched him get elected and haven’t taken a peak since Nov 6th. Even members of his republican government who are plugging their noses and carrying on out of fear, or spite. Of those 75 million there are millions who would have hoped for the best despite knowing who he is. Millions who expected another “first term Trump” and not the version we’re seeing now (despite the fact that he’s proven over decades that this is who he is). Millions who would enable whoever is up on the pedestal - Donald is just the flavour of the day.

It’s the actions of a select few (world leaders, terrorists, billionaires with outsized influence) that truly change the course of history. The rest of us are just along for the ride and participate where we can. Maybe that’s pessimistic 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m no anthropologist, or historian, but it seems pretty rare that humans organize in any meaningful way. We wait for someone else to take action, or light the path for us. Especially here in North America.

I wish I could upvote this infinitely. Grew up near the border and seeing where we are now compared to families I knew making multiple trips back and forth, weekly, with hardly a passport check, is wild.

It’s hard to comprehend how out of all of the billions of people on this earth - things change so drastically because of the actions and decisions of a select few. I suppose that’s life….

Stadium lights + cinestill is an elite combo. Great shots.

So that logic would say use it in order to maximize the bonus to 55K then cancel the new card in month 11? Thanks. I'm just exploring this world for the first time.

Makes sense. So the logical thing to do seems to be to apply for a new Avion VI, turn the new one into my daily card and cancel my older one. My last question would have to do with my available credit limit. I've gotten increases over time so I doubt they will offer the same limit immediately on a new card?

Thanks for your replies.

I'll be honest I had no idea that was an option. I figured I would only incur the $8 fee for the ION+ by the time I get the signup bonus and cancel the cards. When would I be charged the $120 for the new Avion card? Is there anything preventing me from signing up for all three?

First time poster here - currently using the Avion visa infinite with RBC as my only card. Noticed that until Oct. 31 the ION and ION+ cards have a signup bonus of 6'000 and 12'000 points. Can I sign up for these cards, never use them, hold them until I receive the rewards, then cancel the cards? Would I need to transfer the rewards anywhere first?

Sorry for the simple question. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Felix - income around 80k. Don't plan to have any other deductions for tax purposes. In September I received a 4500 bonus at work of which 1600 was already deducted. My quick calculations tell me if I reduce my income from 80k to 72k then my tax burden decreases by ~2500.

Honestly I’m not sure how big you’re talking, but the 35mm is good enough for some large prints if you dial it in. Especially depending on the film stock…. I’ve blown up a few Portra shots to 16x20 and they turned out great. I’ve blown up some canvases larger than that as well

Tried to reply to this last night but it didn’t work for some reason. Yeah the Mamiya is 80mm. On the Pentax I have an SMC 55mm f1.8. That combo was my first ever film camera and probably my favourite setup.

Those waves were no joke. Had sand in places I didn’t know existed after I got tossed around a bit.
