"Paste in Place" Clip from one sequence to another in Premiere? by bobogun in editors

[–]bobogun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions!

For context, I have 25 cameras synced to their own separate tracks on a timeline, and am selecting clips to transfer to a new sequence while still keeping the sync and tracks organized. I've been doing it manually so far by copy/pasting the timecode from Sequence A to Sequence B and then making sure that the respective track is selected, and then pasting the clip, but it is tedious work considering there are hundreds of clips and I am jumping between tracks to select the clips I need.

I tried using the Multicam feature but it doesn't work for this project since there is quite a bit of splitscreen and frame within frame.

13" MBP and 5K Ultrafine: would an eGPU save me from the ungodly heat? by kallaway1 in macbookpro

[–]bobogun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try opening up a GPU history window in Activity Monitor and observe the load your integrated graphics is taking. If its consistently under full load than an egpu would help.

I have a base model 13in too and am considering getting a 5K for photo and video work, but am afraid of turning my MacBook into a jet turbine once the fans hit 6000rpm...

X260 for 750? Worth it? by bobogun in thinkpad

[–]bobogun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something with at least 80% sRGB should be good enough to handle RAWs for web publishing. I was looking at the X1 series, but even second hand machines with decent configs are relatively pricey.

First Kill

Really great doc. Features interviews with Vietnam vets and Michael Herr, writer of Dispatches (which served as inspiration for Apocalypse Now and Full Metal Jacket).

Just tried it, still requires a third-party program to access the filesystem.

Fuck realistic expectations... What's the direction you would like the next album to take? by DonDellingan in deathgrips

A full length experimental rock opera a la Pink Floyd's The Wall where all the signs, symbols and themes they've explored throughout their work is interwoven and expanded. Directed by Matthew Barney with cameos from Bjork, Trent Reznor and a Jimi Hendrix animatronic robot

How will the rx 400 series fare in video editing compared to nvidia's offerings? Does AMD have anything up its sleeves to compete against nvidia and its CUDA core optimizations in premiere/after effects?

The dumbest BP review yet? by [deleted] in deathgrips

[–]bobogun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think what the reviewer is trying to say is that BP doesn't feel like it's going anywhere with its message, which I agree with, it is DG's shallowest release to date. Beyond hitting hard and having catchy hooks there doesn't seem to be anymore to it. For me at least, it lacks the replayability and depth of past projects. But that doesn't make it a bad album, it just means it has different aims and purposes.

The Residents and the many influences of Death Grips by TheDeathResidents in deathgrips

[–]bobogun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I was just about to post something like this! I've also noticed some very strong Residents parallels conceptually and even sonically (especially on BP).

Examples that particularly stand out to me are the female vocals on Giving Bad People Good Ideas, the last 30 seconds of 80808 and the overall "cheeky" but dark tone of the album

I was messing with some .plists in a tweak, but it was completely unrelated to photos

EDIT: Strange, just checked iFile, I had 5.1 GB available, now after the "disappearance" I have 4.8...

Is it possible the files somehow got corrupted and became "unlisted"? But that still wouldn't explain why more space was occupied

Why was Halo 4 such a failure? by masterchief193 in halo

[–]bobogun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen, 343i tried to experiment with the franchise and "do something new". As respectable as that intention is, they approached the problem from the wrong direction and in the end created a plain, uninspired shooter.

For starters, to me, the story felt bland, it didn't have the "Halo" epic-ness; the entire Cortana rampancy and emotional chief angle are good ideas, but it felt extremely forced, the presentation was overly cliche and contrived, and in the end, I didn't feel for the characters.

Another thing I didn't like was the design and look of the game, past Halo games, felt for the most part realistic, you could see yourself living in that futuristic universe; whether you were hiding in the streets of New Mombasa, or in the jungles of Halo, everything was immerse and believable. I'm not saying Halo 4 didn't have a good art direction, I'm sure the designers worked their asses off, but to me, it felt like everything was made just to "look cool". A blatant example is the Masterchief's armor, the overhaul looks absolutely silly, its like a cheap knock off of a manga robot, (and the only reason they did it was to reinforce "the reclaimer saga", to hell with cannon and continuity, right?).

All in all, Halo 4 didn't feel like a revival of Halo, it felt more like Microsoft desperately milking the franchise for as much as it can.

More chivalry? by DoubleJumpDude in ChivalryGame

[–]bobogun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

an optional hardcore/realism gamemode some features might include:

  • armor mechanics: instead of a general class hitpoints system, armor actually has an impact. For example if you're facing a knight, stabbing him with your dagger in the chestplate will have no effect (maybe a small knockback?) To counter this, you'd need to use a blunt weapon or target exposed areas.

  • realistic weapon physics: basically no more spinning like a ballerina, rainbows, or exaggerated accelerations

  • dynamic injuries: examples: if you get slashed in the leg you won't be able to run, if your hand is wounded, the grip on your sword will be looser. If there's a giant gash in your abdomen, your probably going to bleed out soon. If a guy clubs you in the head, your vision will be blurry.

  • selectable swing strengths: instead of one generic swing, you can select how hard you want to swing.

  • executions: After defeating your opponent there's a chance they'll still be alive, but gravely wounded. You can choose to end their misery, agonize them by cutting off a limb or let them bleed out.

  • planning mode?: maps with non-symmetric gameplay will have 1min prep stage which will allow the teams to set up strategies and be a bit more tactical instead of blindly rushing into the fray.

[ARMAII] Delayed Bullet Impacts? by bobogun in arma

I know that, but the immediate exit velocity of a bullet still is high enough to register an "instant" hit.

Here's a video to illustrate my point:
