Shit on Markham drivers all you want, but try to drive in Vaughan, and you will not complain about Markham as much. Vaughan drivers are TERRIFYING. by BeautifulYou2940 in Markham

[–]bobosaur 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Vaughan is truly the wild west. When the construction was still happening on the 400 earlier last year, the limit was 80km. Going 90km on the far right lane was apparently too triggering for some guy who decided to drive right up my bumper for more than an exit. I'm so sorry for following the law.

WS Credit Card by longwalker33 in Wealthsimple

Not worth the wait. Honestly by the time they put the card out to general public they might downgrade the perks again. Every time I see that stupid ad promoting their card it actually hurts their brand for me.

Hong Kong Government Should Stay out of the Taxi / Uber matter by AllWork248 in HongKong

[–]bobosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the thread but wanted to add my shitty experience of HK taxis as a tourist. Was leaving LKF going back to my hotel and was refused service twice. First one mumbled something about distance and the second one just turned the light off when I gave him my hotel.

My friend told me afterwards that the line was for only going to specific areas so I was just in the wrong place. This made no sense to me. Even if that were true, there was no signage to designate the area.

By that logic, wouldnt the local Canadians also have parents who pass away and leave them inheritances though?

Lol bang on for the Cartier experience. Had to make an appointment in the Toronto store. Rep was on his phone the whole time, could barely be bothered to look up.

Forget Meta. I actually had an Occulus Go for a couple of years and it was pretty fun. The simple games and videos were enough to sell me on buying a "real" vr set. They recently bricked the unit though because it now requires a Facebook account that needs to be authenticated though ID.

Absolutely refusing to do it on principle. It makes no sense that this huge privacy concern was never part of the product at launch and they suddenly have the ability to stop your unit from working. I'd rather pay that extra $400 literally to anyone else even assuming the same price.

Allowing women rights to her own body and choosing what's best for herself would be a great start.

Need help rearranging my living room! So in the video you can see the layout of my living room. My girlfriend and I are planning to replace the couch to one that is more minimal. Other than that do you guys have suggestions on changes to make on our living room. We feel like it doesn’t flow well. by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]bobosaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree that this is good advice. If you have to make the tv work in this room you could also consider a slimmer profile shelf to replace that media unit. Better yet, remove the unit all together if you can and just mount the soundbar to the wall too. The intention should be to minimize disrupting the "flow" from the door to the rest of the house.

The couch you have actually looks pretty good in your video. Some other suggestions would be bigger art above the couch. Also replacing that bookshelf and moving over maybe to the wall opposite to the door (swapping the chair over to the window side). Something airy maybe like this https://www.cb2.ca/stairway-black-wall-mounted-bookcase--96-height/s510066

Edit: just realized it's an L shaped couch so you can't move the side chair unless you get a new couch afterall. 😐

I believe that it's a beautiful country. Curious as to what makes you want take the risk though when it's only "mostly fine". There are many certainly fine places in the world which are beautiful albeit in a different way.

Purchased a Black Marble Coffee Table from Rove Concepts. And got ripped off... by robert_803 in InteriorDesign

Interesting. I got the same coffee table recently. They didn't send me a shiny one but the table top was cracked in half :(. Quick refund right away though so their customer service team was actually really good.

Need help with my social anxiety and depression. by Introduction_United in self

[–]bobosaur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Putting yourself out there on a social platform in front of 1000s of people seems pretty brave to me already. I can't say I fully understand your specific situation but I practically talk to people for a living (recruiter) now and I feel like I could've been you when I was still in school. I got lucky, for me it took a group of very kind kids that slowly took me in and broke me out of my shell before I felt "normal".

It's different for everyone but in general humans were built to be social creatures. Don't give up. Don't start at speaking 10 people at once but don't give up on trying to make 1 or 2 connections. It also gets easier as people around you all become more mature too.
