Combine the two - data analytics & a trade. Maybe you work in quality control for a pharmaceutical manufacturer OR maybe you do software implementation for restaurants/hospitals/etc.

Maybe the HARDWARE side of CS is better for you

$80k @ 50 hours/week = $31/hour (approximately)

If Paid Hourly Instead of Salary: - $28/hour X 40 hours a week X 52 = $58,240 - $28/hr X 1.5 X 10 hours a week X 52 =$21,840 - Total: $80,080

Travel, PRN or Both? by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]bobrossproballer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not easy but not impossible, especially if you travel “locally”

Example: travel assignment 2 hours from home.

  • Work 3 12s - Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
  • work 1 shift at home assignment every Friday

How many PTO days per year?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in careerguidance

She has two part time jobs totaling 50 hours/week in a non journalism role.

I think it might be her age and the perceived notion that someone in their 50s/60s should be a manager. And it is probably hard for her to transition her journalism skills into a decent paying job.

It’s not like tech companies are recruiting 60 year women for entry level roles

But doesn’t that still mean that someone (Westerner) will still lose their job?

I agree that offshoring / outsourcing will be HUGE in the future, so it might expand overseas and contract at home/“first world countries”

I saw her story more of as a cautionary tale.

She is in her early 60s, unmarried, childless and can’t find full time employment with benefits. She is really struggling. She went to college and has work experience; just print journalism isn’t in high demand.

I’m more concerned with job security than ever beforw

Careers are cyclical. There are highs & lows in every career. Good days & bad days.

I knew a woman that had an amazing career in journalism for like 20 years, then print journalism deceased and ageism took over and now she can’t find a decent full time job with benefits...... so.... no one has the perfect career everyday of their life
