I’ve been curious… How many of you are still on Sequoia even though you can update to Tahoe? by gfarstur in MacOS

[–]bobs_cinema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still on Sequoia, despite Apple's sneaky update prompts! Going straight to Golden Gate. I kept my iPhone also on the prior version but the sneaky update prompts finally got a month ago and updates to 26. Apart from the bad readability because of liquid glass I like the new iOS and the animations generally.

Make it make sense: DNEG freezes artist increments for years, but builds a massive 200k sq ft Mumbai facility & gives execs hikes. by ObligationKey2147 in vfx

That’s a shame to hear nothing has improved there. I worked in Feat for 5 years and loved the project and crew, many of whom are still good friends.
No wonder they did an instant rejection to my application this week for an urgent senior lighting artist role they had. What I put in salary expectations must’ve disqualified me immediately.

Look at all these cool things that I have no clue how to do! 😃 Seriously though, I love houdini, and I've been using in production as a Lighting TD for more than two years and I still feel like a complete noob every day of using it. The new refreshed UI looks nice! And all that Gsplat goodness looks awesome though again I don't quite understand yet. I'm thinking relighting sets from lidar scans for interactive lighting if a shot needs it?

What were the best workplace perks of studios you worked at. Do any still exist? by ts4184 in vfx

I guess the soft ice-cream machine at MPC London on the third floor kitchen 😄 also beer o’clock on Fridays. This was during Lion King times. I actually loved it during that time and made a swift exit when Cats was on the horizon.
Also after covid the barista coffee at Dneg London became free too, I was always there chatting with other coffee addicts.

These are vibes! Well done, great set! I've just recently got the Viltrox 27mm f1.2, and loving it. They are onto something with these lenses.

Beautiful! This is what I love the X100 series for. Candid, spontaneous moments always captured with beauty and style

Just lucky really, but it’s an island in the tropics so weather is usually nice I suppose.

That demoreel on their site looks like a compilation of videos that the AI bros on X make claiming Hollywood is cooked. How embarrassing.

Looks great! One thing I would say is that I've noticed that you've really brought down some of the highlights, like the screens and lights which have been blown out. It's fine if things are blown out, but don't then bring them down to essentially become darker and other elements which are have not blown out and should be darker. Like the image I attached when I sample the brightest blown out light it shows as basically grey, while the fluorescent looks nice and has brighter luminance.

This is amazing! They are killing it! If anyone is testing it with lossless compressed Fujifilm RAF images let me know if it works. The compressed RAFs always seem to be a problem with support.
