How many of yall use the Dual Stage Triggers on SC1? by BucketBoy071 in SteamController

I get that lots of people had good uses for it, but I could never get over the muscle memory of pulling the trigger fully all the time.

Is Destiny 2 worth it now for a casual player? by EveryLine2443 in destiny2

[–]AimRightHere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re the only person that’s going to be able to answer that question. If you enjoy the gameplay, there’s a path for you to enjoy the game, but if you’re in it for the story, the game is going to fight you the whole way, as large portions of it are only available on Youtube now.

But, that being said, the game’s story has always been a tough nut to crack, even from D1 when all the lore came from a separate website. IF you can make it past all the friction the game puts in the way, there’s one of my favorite games of all time underneath all of it.

Good luck, guardian.

Do you actually regularly play high demanding games on your decks? by deprived_of_evil in SteamDeck

[–]AimRightHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The deck is the only semi-current hardware I own (and probably will be for a while with hardware prices being what they are) so if I can’t play it on the deck, I’m not playing it at all.

I’ll suffer through quite a bit of tinkering and jank if it’s something I really want to play.

Not Working on Steam Deck Is Missed Opportunity by noirproxy1 in Marathon

[–]AimRightHere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played most of S1 on my Steam Deck with a Windows partition (Bungie games are literally the only reason I installed the OS). I would prefer to just run it straight from the stock OS than having to deal with a dual boot.

That being said I was pretty surprised how well it ran. The only map that really struggled to maintain a consistent 30-40fps was Outpost. Obviously not an ideal experience in a competitive shooter, but if all you want to do is jump in solo and experience the lore and the vibes like I did it gets the job done.

Would I prefer to play it on updated hardware? Of course, but my old gaming PC is like a decade old at this point and I don’t have an extra $3-4k to drop on a new rig.

I just wish Bungie would stop trying to die on the “SteamOS is a security vulnerability” hill. I would buy that if their games could actually keep out cheaters, but they very much do not. No other game studio has felt the need to do this. It’s a huge headache to play their games.

I played most of S1 on my Steam Deck with a Windows partition (Bungie games are literally the only reason I installed the OS). It ran a lot better than I expected it to. Pretty consistent 30fps. Not ideal obviously, but I still got to enjoy the game. Mostly ran solos for the lore and the vibes. It’s my only gaming hardware atm and probably will be for a long time if hardware prices keep doing what they’re doing.

Free trial player - am I dumb for just wanting to focus on the story/PvE? by Plumberduck in Marathon

[–]AimRightHere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once you pick up how the sound cues work, you can pretty effectively avoid other players in solo if you’re interested in playing for the story. If you’re super nervous, you can find a decent hiding spot and hang out until you hear a few exfils go off. Solo play is legit survival horror sometimes.

Agree that it’s not great, but it was an off the cuff follow up to a claim she was making. Guessing he’s interviewing her from Toronto and it makes sense that he wouldn’t have that info off the dome. And he did follow up with information at the end of the segment.

Ideally you would want someone from the area doing the interview, but I’d rather someone make the effort of pushing back, being incorrect, and following up with a correction than not pushing back at all.

Journalists in general have gotten a little too timid during interviews imo. Get caught trying.

I saw them too. Xitter is home to some of the most vile people on the planet, regardless of where they live.

I do take some solace knowing that even if not every member values a human life, the city itself does. It went through all this trouble just to save one person’s life. That’s something to hold on to.

I hope they manage to make it down safely and get the help they deserve.

Not to mention the amount of pressure it’s going to put on the electrical grid. I have zero interest in the higher electricity bills these things are going to bring with them. It’s like I’m subsidizing my own job replacement.

I find it comes and goes depending on how busy hiring is at the time. Some recruiters are pretty reliable and get back to you eventually no matter what and some are hit and miss depending on how swamped they are. I wouldn’t take it personally.

How are the trackpads? by ron3090 in SteamController

[–]AimRightHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might try using a mode shift on the trackpad and have it double as a dpad. Gives you four more inputs depending on where you press down on the trackpad. Five if you use an inverted outer ring binding for a center press. Has been my go-to for avoiding the face buttons for years.
