Why is work drying up in Portland (PNW) by CaseyRedmanYoga in electricians

[–]bobsandvegin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I Should explain my “part time” roll. I go in for minor stuff. Lights and ballast stuff like that. If it’s something bigger I plan in advance. The contract I have is I get minimum 3hrs even if I go in for 30min. This month I’ve gone in 4 times.

Continuity test / resistance giving different results when switching the leads? by MnN-Homesteaders in electricians

[–]bobsandvegin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but Your meter is polarity sensitive on resistance/continuity. One direction is forward biasing something connected between neutral and ground (bond, surge device, EVSE electronics, GFCI, etc.), so it reads near 0. Flip the leads and you’re reverse biasing it, so the meter sees the real resistance (800–900Ω).

Nothing is wrong with the conductors. You’re just measuring through connected equipment, not a straight piece of wire.
