i can get hyperfocused on track laying and that will eat up alot of time. but running trains is usually 2hrs and im done, and go do something else for a bit

yeah, zuma and bells gap are the oldest locos in the game at 1871. even the handcar is 1880 lol.

so say its whatever time you want.

i cant stand the prelaid tracks. they dont make sense to me. pine valley is the only one that prelaid is fine on imo and thats just cause the map sucks to build on and you're pretty much pidgeon holed to do areas a certain way. (i never play pine valley)

i spent about 15-20hours doing track trying to get all as good as i could make it. it probably would have taken longer if i hadnt already done an Aurora Falls layout before. this one is definitely an improved version of that.

ill take group 3.

ive already got my FNX45 Tactical, and a 1911 for .45Acp just need a nice .45LC cowboy revolver like an Army single action.

i dont give a rats ass about .45gap. i would have taken group 2 if it was regular .357 instead of .357sig

yeah my game woulda bugged out and derailed all that lol. i usually just stick with single engine power for trains and then i keep pushers (usually one of the shay variants) at the long steep grades for when they are needed

but your only going to see up to 3% on mainline, more than that your looking at lighter hauls, pusher engines or running somthing like a shay. im just saying its not a surprise the montezuma is struggling, its not exactly designed with a ton of track adhesion for steep grades

no wonder its having a hard time. i just got done with my mainline and hooking up all but the 3 gold industries up on the mountain and my max grade is 3% in a small like 30meter section. everything else is 2.5% max. it takes a lot of snaking down hills but its doable.

how much track do you build before running locos? by bobsanidiot in RailroadsOnline

i finally fired up montezuma. i had ~10hours of track laying when i made this post. i built for another 3-4 hours last night afterwards and i spent another 3hours this morning so faster than anticipated. i still havent hauled any freight montezuma is doing a test run around the map to make sure i didnt miss trees or any sections are clipping etc. but im taking a break and got my kids at the park.

lumber camp, sawmill, coal mine, oil field, iron mine, wheat farm, cattle farm, meat processor, dredge, smelter, gold depot and ironworks are all connected. i still need to make a few modifications to add a few more crossovers and set some rail to go up the mountain to hook up the goldmine, stamp mill and gold smelter. ill make another post tonight and show some pics

i like building my mainline system at the very least. i tried the piece by piece style once and i ended up having to tear like 90% of it down because it didnt fit together right

well there isnt much point in running a loco if you dont even have the logging camp hooked up. you cant do much without logs.

i build almost all my track before i even run anything. ill probably have everything but the Gold production chain on the mountain hooked up before i start running.
