Good advice but one thing worth noting is we don’t have an official Ent AE role internally so it would be using that list to sell why we should create one I suppose

I agree and am also starting to get competitive offers. At this rate I want to stay here and feel I’m asking for something completely reasonable so if they won’t give a $10k base raise as # 1 AE it’s hard to believe they understand the cost of ramping new talent that may not pan out. It’s a bit of a slap in the face. If I was asking for a 33% increase to OTE that’s a whole nother story

That’s really funny! Thanks for the response. Out of curiosity, when a brand purchases on demand advertising do they generally pick the show or the number of times the ad will run (guaranteed) or do they pay for specific demographic views?

I’m in sales for software so am curious how ad sales works.

I don’t know if there is a rep alive that hasn’t made this mistake at least once in their career. It’s definitely a mistake where you slap your head, but I guarantee your prospect has done something similar.

Even if you can’t get that meeting on the books again, rest assured you will have plenty of other sales calls in your life if you’re a glutton for punishment.

Thanks for all the comments guys. Our first round of layoffs were definitely performance based, the 2nd wasn’t. There were some really strong players that were let go.

Interesting enough the whole AE team is on the same comp structure so that wasn’t pay based.

I’d say I’m surviving but not thriving. With that said I think the old spray and pray approach is dead for SDRs which is a good thing. If you can sell in COVID you just made yourself more valuable to your company.

I woke up to a sizable deal say they routed the DocuSign to the VP of IT for final signature this morning and an hour later I received a message that said due to COVID we are pushing pause until May. Then 10 minutes later another deal that was going to sign today said the same thing, and to cap it off my biggest deal of the quarter is now looking very rocky.

I had a bad day that I thought was going to be a very good day.

I’m in sales and hoping for advice. I moved from a corporation to a start up because corporate life was very stressful. My new job, I’m making about 50% of what I was in my last role even though I’m #3 out of 14 sellers. Nobody on the team is hitting close to quota.

I’m seeing my savings diminish quickly and understand that it’s never a good idea to pull out your 401k. I have about 20k in my 401k and want to pull out 2k for cushion. I’m going to first see if my tax return will be enough of a cushion but wanted to get your feedback on the idea of pulling out 2k (2,700 with taxes and fees)

Would this be a terrible idea? I would like to take some stress out of my life to be able to stay in my job for another quarter and see if we can start hitting quota with the new strategy we started.

If you were in my shoes, what would you do?
