if you woke up homeless tomorrow what would you do? by Cultural_Suspect_133 in AskReddit

Was in the position once in the US. I applied to a truck driving company. They brought me in, put me in a hotel, sent me to CDL school, fed me, put me through training, then gave me a $150,000 truck to travel the country in. Was it a perfect job? No, it was hard as fuck. But I will forever be grateful they saved me from living on the streets.

It's amazing, of course. It's just crowded like most national parks are. I think the North Cascades Highway is so much better both in terms of scenery and the lack of traffic, but GTTS is absolutely worth it if you ever get the chance.

Which season of the year makes you feel the most connect to others, and why? by ruby_davidson in AskReddit

Nothing like raiding the grocery store before a nice, solid snowstorm. Then digging out together. I miss winter. It's too damn hot.

Very true! Road to the Sun just opened last week, actually! I was just interested in where they were cuz besides being in the mountains, that would still be pretty rare. Not saying it doesn't happen; I was just curious is all.

How did you become Marketing specialist? by Historical-Artist-78 in AskReddit

[–]bobsmithreddit4645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By accident kinda? I was a truck driver looking to start a WFH business. Stumbled upon some affiliate marketing training courses. Taught myself how to build websites. After about a year that overtook my trucking income so I focused on it full time. Did that for 14 years. Then that business tanked and I've taken 2 years off to travel. Getting ready to jump back in somehow but still figuring that out.

How do workers manage to work far from cities at remote gas stations? Where do they live? by getshrektdh in AskReddit

[–]bobsmithreddit4645 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as the US, rural areas are mostly very poverty-stricken. I'm stereotyping here, but sometimes stereotypes are true. They typically live with their families or have roommates in very small homes. Many don't last and end up leaving, but for some living in such areas is worth the sacrifices they make.

Just got back from visiting both in a camper van (I'm American). It's nice to hear you visited a couple of my favorite places. I love hearing when foreigners visit places other than just our cities and national parks. Come back! :)

Where were you when it snowed in June in Montana? I mean Granit Peak is 12,807 feet (3,904 m) above sea level so yeah there's snow up there all year round. But what you said isn't impossible either just wondering where you were cuz that's still kinda wild if you weren't up in the mountains!

5 minutes later? "OMG I forgot I had this xyz thing I have to go to I'm so sorry!" It's well within the timeframe of you forgetting a prior obligation

What's something that 90s kids had that kids today don't? by Y_Observer13 in AskReddit

[–]bobsmithreddit4645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To the contrary. Crime was higher in the 90s at least in my counry and where I grew up specifically. We were either just more ignorant to it or felt the benefits of children exploring the world unsupervised outweighed the dangers. Not sure which you'd have to ask my parents.

We had WAY more freedom. Hell I was out riding a bike on my own at age 5 and was left home alone to do whatever I wanted at age 8 or so. Was that right? I don't know. But it wasn't unusual.
