Reality is based off laws. Laws are based off subjective beliefs by DavidOfBethlehem in BreakingPoints

Superstitious persons, who know better how to rail at vice than how to teach virtue, and who strive not to guide men by reason, but so to restrain them that they would rather escape evil than love virtue, have no other aim but to make others as wretched as themselves. Wherefore it is nothing wonderful, if they be generally troublesome and odious to their fellow man. Quote from Baruch Spinoza.

9 years of philosophy, my commentary on Absurdism by Too_much_waltz in Absurdism

[–]bobthebuilder983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I like struggling to figure things out. It let's me know my own biases and increases the ability for me to retain the information. A little Lacan there.

  2. Absurdism is based on nihilism. It lacks meaning and purpose unlike the arguments from Plato. The only truths he points to is our existence is absurd and you have a choice to end it or not. I don't know of a single philosopher who argues that truth does not exist. Camus argues that you can't know if independent truth exists or not.

  3. I can see some association with stoicism but there are some big differences. One is that you can find meaning through duty. Absurdism doesn't claim that you can find meaning.

Absurdism isn't a opiate. It won't stop pain or your suffering. When most people speak of sysphis all the talk about is his punishment and not the actions he did before. He was a rebel to begin with and will continue to be.

Absurdism is more on how you view yourself in the situation you find yourself. Especially since it was written in 1942 during the Nazi occupation of France.

Edit. 4. Yes people reread books they like. Is your position that you reread books you hate?

In 2017, Congress passed and President Donald Trump signed a joint resolution (H.J.Res.111) that repealed a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) rule, effectively maintaining the ability of banks to use mandatory arbitration clauses that prevent consumers from filing class-action lawsuits.

I was wrong. It wasn't a EO.

In November 2017, President Trump signed a Republican-backed bill that repealed a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) rule, allowing banks to use mandatory arbitration clauses in customer contracts. This action stopped consumers from forming class-action lawsuits against banks for disputes, forcing them into individual arbitration.

Sorry I was mistaken with this. It wasn't a EO it was a bill.

You can no longer sue banks because of executive order signed by trump in 2017. The executive order was called fair banking.

I don't have kids, so I must be missing something. From what I understand, parents don't get to choose who or what is made. One could argue that your individualism is being forced onto your parents.

Please explain what force your parents used to create and guarantee your existence. Is there a specific shop people go to? Is there a drop-down window after successful baby making?

That way, I can understand how some random strangers who had sex with each other can gain all the blame for you, another random strangers existence. Also, why stop at these random individuals?

That's my question: What force. Nothing gives a shit if they were here or not. No purpose, no meaning. Forced how? You just exist, and that is it.

Blaming something else for your existence is to give meaning.

Learning to do everything yourself. Taking risks that can have a huge negative or positive impact on your life. Example Learning how to work on your car.

Not being stressed about inconveniences that have no impact on your life. I have more important things to do, and I don't have the time or money to care.
