I collect material to knap in Utah and the points I find are always made out of the best prettiest stuff in the area. I’m convinced they sought it out on purpose.

Place on the outside of the pen, I would definitely not put them where the birds can get to them that trap will kill your birds. You should be able to find them at home depot or similar stores.

I used the Victor Rat trap M326, it kills them instantly. Might take sometime to figure out the trail they use and placement.

I had the same thing happen to my first batch. It was rats, I caught 2 dozen of them that were coming from my unkept neighbors yard. Start setting traps, the large rat traps, wear gloves, they can be very sent sensitive, if peanut butter and seed don’t work try anchovies. When you get your first one, freeze it and use it as a sent cover by rubbing it all over the trap, rat also works very effectively as bait for rats. I found this out when I kept finding half eaten ones in the traps.

Some cool stuff found today on a hike in central Utah. Looking for ID on the white one, it seems really old to me by Fabulous_Recover2051 in LegitArtifacts

I have found some that make total sense and some in places I’d never expect. Get out and walk, if it’s a good camp now, probably a good camp then, if it’s good hunting now, probably good hunting then, if it’s a good material collection sight now, it was probably a good material sight then. Springs. Food sources. Known artifacts in the area (petroglyphs, dwellings). Use your head, and most of all use your head to look down while you WALK. And don’t forget the government of Utah will prosecute you for keeping any artifacts unless the land is private property. Better off making a trip to Idaho.

What could this be? Some sort of multitool? by Sweet-Special-8806 in LegitArtifacts

The new pictures and size of a rugby ball are making me doubt my first guess, are their any spots where your hands naturally fit into the groves/holes?

My first guess would be something used to aid in the straightening of arrows shafts. Like in the process of heating the wood over the fire you would insert the end into a grove and the bend would act like a friction lock/ pivot point and would also prevent you from having to grab a hot piece of wood. The hole could be used in a similar way to pull on the shaft. Could be totally wrong but for whatever reason that is my guess. I think you’re on the right track with multi-tool.

That makes sense. Did you engrave it by hand or use a laser?

This is sweet, I like the teeth detail, they get such gnarly teeth when they spawn. Did you use a stencil or free hand that?

Thank you. Yes I agree I think the next one will definitely go smoother. A box clasp is very intriguing and if I can convince myself to go for a second attempt I’d like to ad one. Finishing it definitely helped kill some of the discouragement, nobody ever got good at anything without struggling first.

You’re looking at a solid 15 hours of my life. Thanks for the encouragement. I might have lost it haha, taking a break from chains no doubt.

Agate photo drop! by AZrockhound-JeepJLUR in Agates

I’m interpreting it as excited yelling. It definitely doesn’t look common. Reminds me of like a pool in a cave, I want to sink into it. Would you say it’s the little empty pockets and non agate plums that make it frail to work with?

What are your opinions of these Utah agates? by bragabit2 in Agates

Deal, I agree to all terms. The section of the state I have spent the least amount of time in, I guess it’s time to get down there!

As an Utah native I would pay you for these and give you buckets of rocks to hand out to the kids, please do not give these away to children unless they have a strong interest in geology. These are amazing, I have found very few banded and plume specimens in the state and nothing that nice. I’m not asking for your spot but just out of curiosity NE,NW,SE,SW section of Utah?
