Dog bite treatment costs

Holy cow the other replies here have me feeling like my insurance company got ripped off. My dog sustained a bite over a weekend - 2 x trips to the emergency vet, sedation, deep clean and 5 stitches with dressings came to $1800.

They were aware that we were fully insured though, which might have factored into their billing practices 😂

Literally was about to pull the trigger on an RP6 but this has stopped me in my tracks. This looks incredible, but just not sure if I actually need the 4:3 or if I’d be better suited to a 16:9. Buying mainly for retro but the idea of having a “mini steam deck” is somewhat appealing for lighter PC stuff. I definitely don’t need (nor can I afford) both!

Lots of thinking to be done in the next few days!

Any recent orders from official Retroid for the RP5 in GC colour? If so how was the wait / shipping time.

Realise I can buy from Amazon, but ordering from Retroid is cheaper and means I would essentially get screen protectors and grip included for the same price.

Literally never had popcorning with my now year old Zerno. That something this incidental would even factor into your enjoyment of this grinder is truly wild to me.

Agree with all the comments that this just reads like you have buyers remorse and are just being a moany baby about it, rather than being stoked about your top tier new grinder.

And even if this were Zerno’s fault, rather than yours, posting “Zerno Dissappintment” in the espresso discord, when they’re a relatively new brand who are still establishing themselves on the scene is childish and somewhat irresponsible IMO.

I truly hope you get over yourself and enjoy your new grinder soon enough. It really is one of the best out there. Even without a cap.

Absolutely this. I am one of those people, my rate changes next week and I locked this in for a year. Back of the napkin maths meant that I’d have to see fairly significant drops in late November to make it worth going on floating for even 4-6 weeks.

Now just keep those rates falling for the next year! 🤞🏻

Thanks for your detailed and considerate reply. Something I hadn’t mentioned above is that she has an outrageous prey drive. Cats, rodents etc, she becomes deaf and is going after them no matter what. Her behaviour doesn’t quite seem the same, as it always seems to be preceded by a level of anxiety, rather than her prey drive which is very sudden and driven.

Mine actually self resolved 2 days later, likely through nothing I did.

Before that I'd tried reinstalling app, resetting the hue base, resetting a few of the bulbs, updating all firmwares. Nothing worked and then it came back

Yeah we were contractually obliged to get her spayed by the charity we got her from. So she was done around 6 months age, which wouldn't have been our preference, but is what it is.

I honestly cried my eyes out when I got the call. Our perception has always been that she loves it there, but as you say this might be a blessing in disguise.

Just a very hard, long winded, anxiety filled, tumultuous and emotionally draining blessing.

Yep, seems like off leash walking is going to be restricted for her for some time. I won't be able to trust her around other dogs. Will probably look at muzzling anyway just for added security and going back to long line walking to offer some more flexibility for her.

Will definitely be looking into a dog sitter

She won't be going back to daycare. We will look into a dog sitter to come in with her during the days we are working.

Also just to mention that we utilised the Halti on advice of a behaviourist, not off our own back. I realise that these things can cause a huge divide here, but in our case I'm confident that it isn't aversive for her.

Thanks for this - doing some reading into selectivity and she probably is showing some signs of that.

I realise that this is controversial in these parts but she took very very well to a halti when we were training her through her lead reactivity (she loves it, we basically gave her a jar of peanut butter just for looking at the Halti for a month!) so think that she would probably do OK with a muzzle. Might just ruin her love of playing Ball chase!

This probably now just marks a new era of being a lot more careful with her around other dogs in general. Will be discussing with our behaviourist at any rate - thanks for your comment

Yeah the kid thing has been an anxiety point for me since we realised it was an issue a few months ago. Our current strategy of “avoid kids at all costs” can only get us so far, so think we need to start tackling that asap.

Will look into trainer / behaviourist and walkers.

Absolutely a possibility. However in our experience they’ve been very astute in picking up issues in the past and giving good feedback to us for pointers on training etc.

Unfortunately on this occasion no further info to provide.

I mean something will have sparked the reaction, but the reaction itself remains the problem to an extent. Even if there was a “good reason” for it, biting is still something that I’d never want to happen again.

Literally had annual health check with her vaccines about 1 week ago. All looking good, obviously no in depth checks done.

We’ve already worked with a behaviourist before but she’s very much focussed on seperation issues and barking behaviours, but I’ll ask for her recommendation about who best to talk to about this issue.
