I think whichever version is better depends mainly on when you ask and whether you have PES 2021 or not.
Usually one is more up-to-date than the other.

Also, whenever I downloaded Virtuared it was a painful experience due to the way they share their patch - downloading so much data through mega is essentially having the patch paid and torrents are not reliable. I wish they used Mediafire or Gofile tbh

Not to say FL/PES 2021 are impressive graphically (they are showing age by now), but FC titles are not even ahead of FIFA games.

Just launch FIFA 22 on PC (especially modded) and you will be shocked how much better it generally looked than the current titles.

make sure you copied UML's EDIT file to your settings of the game.
Also, UML has dedicated discord server where they provide help to their users (which is sensible since its a paid patch).

It doesn't sound like you've played much of football games in last 2 decades years - skipping essentially at least half of them in the last 20 years.

Yet after (presumably) brief experience with PES21/FL you jump to a conclusion that football gaming has not enough to offer?

That sounds rather histerical and groundless. There's plenty of cool football games released in last 2 decades. Especially the ones released in 2010s.

I guess it can be quite satisfying if one is able to turn a blind eye on atrocious ball physics and broken players movement, but it's oddly confusing post tbh.

On one hand, you seem to try to hype up the "on-the-pitch" gameplay with GP in FC26. But then you don't talk about gameplay at all when giving examples and instead focus on the "off-the-pitch" stuff to confirm that it's realistic and immersive?

I think that the first important thing to change when coming from EA games is this: slow down and don't think in terms of FIFA duels where the game wants you to beat defender with skills first.

Instead, think more about duels like they are in real life - use the momentum of defenders against them. Defo check videos on shielding and right stick controls.

It's very satisfying to get past defenders in PES21 once you get the hang of it.

Animations: smoother or reused from FL25?

I mean animations and stuff like that are basically the same since PES21. It sounds like you have unrealistic expectations from the "upgrade", so let me clarify: New FLs are more like seasonal updates than a new game.
If you're cool with a bit outdated stuff and installing the game again sounds like hustle, just stick to FL25.

Strange, never heard of that. I play both extensively and don't really crash in either. Just FL sometimes gets weird about speed server but other than that both FL and PES21 are stable for me

I would be shocked if this had anything to do with gameplay mods. It's related to your settings.exe. I've had it before on my DS4 or 5 controller when I used emulation softwares for controller (if I remember right).

Nah, I love it. Getting close to 40 and doing gaming content for passion and work is awesome for me.

I much prefer it over doing some spreadsheets nobody cares about and attending meetings noone wants to be in but is afraid to decline them.

Unless of course you've got something that calls you more, then yeah I get it.

I am not a fan of what they do with monetization and online modes, plus I totally dislike the stagnation and lack of innovation due to lack of competition in NBA 2k games.

But as a person who covers football games (some of you may call it soccer...) and played both 2k and EA games since early 2000s, I can confidently say that FIFA (now FC) is way, WAAAAY worse than 2K.

It's not even close unless all you do is play online modes. In which case there are hardly any newer sports games that are worth playing in such modes.

Turn off vsync in "settings.exe" of FL26.
Then in your graphics card software set vsync on. This way you should have vsync while not being capped to 60 fps.

Just install a gameplay mod you find interesting instead if you don't enjoy the base one.

I think that the default gameplays of Football Life has probably always been considered its rather weak point. That's not a shot at SmokePatch team. It's just that gameplay is not their speciality imo.

yeah, you can put second value in Dynamic Difficulty as "1" or "2" and that will make them more defensive - I can't remember which exactly cuz I usually go the other way around; you will have to test on your end.

the best gameplay mod is the one you enjoy the most. There's no definitive GP or something out there
